I have been very anti-Pinterest up until about January of 2018. I never saw a really good reason for engaging on this social network. But, here are some must-know facts about using Pinterest for blogging. Now, if you’re a Pinterest guru or someone that used Pinterest all the time, this should be pretty obvious to you.
Pinterest is, from what I’ve read and observed, a huge source of traffic. But not all traffic is equal. You want to have targeted traffic.
In order to have targeted traffic, you’ll need to do some research and know who your niche is that you’re serving. This will give you a solid base to start using Pinterest for blogging.
Having done some research on this topic of getting traffic to your blog over the months of November 2017 – January 2018. I found that there are plenty of places to get traffic.
Using Pinterest for blogging consistently, even just a few pins a week, adds up to real traffic over time.

What I believe the struggle is when it comes to getting FREE traffic is the learning curve is rather large when starting a blog. There are a few different things that you as the blogging professional need to learn in a quick manner.

- Creating engaging pins for Pinterest which drive traffic to your blog
- Engagement with your followers on social media
- You need to have followers that will click on your links and buy.
- This type of engagement is all built on trust. I’ve seen so many people frustrated with getting the engagement they want but come up empty-handed.
- Advertising your blog posts.
- Typically called promoting blog posts.
- I use Hootsuite Pro to do all this in an automated fashion
Pinterest For Blogging Tips
Typically, there are months that are high in traffic for those in the northern hemisphere. It’s all about where people are located during these time frames. Those in the southern hemisphere are either outdoors in the sun or inside due to rain and wind. If you’re in the northern hemisphere, you know that during this time we are typically inside braving the winter weather.
Pinterest for blogging works best when you treat it like a search engine, not a social feed.
This has typically influenced when people are on a computer. However, since Pinterest is also a mobile app, the weather isn’t so much of a factor of when people are on the internet and using the Pinterest Application.
So, Pinterest Traffic is garnered by a few different methods.
If you haven’t tried Pinterest for blogging yet, this is a good week to start.
- Directly from the board where the pin is located.
- This will give you the option to visit the website that posted the pin.
- From a different Pinterest user that shared the pin on his/her board(s) because it was a quality pin that deserved to be re-pinned.
