Video Marketing Tips and Tricks for Beginners and Experienced Creators
Video marketing can feel intimidating at first. There are so many moving parts—but in today’s digital world, it’s no longer optional. If you want to grow your business, connect with customers, and increase sales, you need to master video marketing strategies.

If you’re in any type of marketing business, video is a must. The pros often say: if you’re nervous about making videos, start by practicing with your phone—even if you never post them. Every creator you admire started somewhere, usually with imperfect, awkward first videos.
I know this firsthand. When I started, I found video intimidating because the camera doesn’t talk back. But the more I practiced, the more natural it became. Quality doesn’t matter in the beginning—it’s about consistency and showing up.
What Counts as “Value” in Video Marketing?

Get on camera and provide value by solving problems, sharing your lifestyle, or telling your story.
Providing value in video marketing doesn’t always mean teaching something new. It could be:
- Sharing your lifestyle or behind-the-scenes content
- Solving problems your audience struggles with
- Sharing your personal story so viewers feel connected
The truth is, there’s no such thing as an oversaturated topic. Even if others have covered it, your unique personality and perspective make your video different.
Pro tip: pay attention to how you can solve your audience’s problems—that’s what keeps them coming back.
Why You Shouldn’t Delete Your Early Videos
When you dive into video marketing, you’ll improve quickly. But don’t delete your early videos, no matter how “cringy” they feel. Those early uploads build watch time, engagement, and “channel juice” on YouTube.
Every video is a stepping stone toward growth. Plus, your audience will love seeing your progress over time.
Test, Test, Test Your Video Marketing Strategies

Always test new ideas in your video marketing campaigns.
The best way to grow is to test. Try new hooks, topics, formats, and posting schedules. You won’t know what resonates until you experiment.
Some practical tips for testing:
- Say your keywords naturally in your video (YouTube automatically transcribes your content for SEO).
- Tell stories that capture attention.
- Use your phone if efficiency matters—upload directly to YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram.
- Experiment with backgrounds—sometimes a busy environment adds energy to your video.
Practice What You’ve Learned

Video Marketing Tips and Tricks For the Beginner to the Experienced.
Video marketing can be very intimidating. There are so many different things that you need to know. However, it’s a necessity if you want to be successful.

So if you’re in a marketing business of some sort, you may want to start making videos. What the pros tell you is that if you are in the least bit fearful of making a video, you should pull out your phone and pretend you are making the video, even if you don’t post them. Starting somewhere is exactly where the person(s) you follow started.
Heck! I started doing videos and found them very intimidating because the camera was not a person that could respond back to what I was saying. So, what I did was to jump on into the video by putting myself directly in front of my camera or phone. In my mind, it didn’t matter the quality in the beginning. It was that I was taking a step each and every day to become better than the day before.
So if you’re in business and afraid of what people will think, or whatever reason you put in your head to excuse you from doing videos, know you’re not alone. Your goal is to make marketing videos which is just another way to say you are providing value to your customers.
What is Considered “Value”?

Value is anything from showing your lifestyle off to solving a problem which you may have the answer, to writing out your feelings so that others can see them – and feel validated.
I and many others tend to focus on solving problems for people – because there’s one truth that we all want living on this planet.
Ok.well maybe there are more truths to list.
- There is a wrong and a right answer, and if you have the right answer you will get more attention in your video marketing.
- There is no such thing as over saturated topics to do a video on. Have you noticed that some of the videos you watch are not done the way you would have done them? Put your own spin on the topic with your personality.
In the short video at the beginning of the post are some more ideas to practice in your video marketing. Those that are frightened of the very thought of a camera and being on camera should start by doing videos for themselves.
You can do as short or as long of a video you like. The key is to be able to watch your video and accept what you see. Some of you that are perfectionists will have more problems with this than most. This isn’t a bad thing though. You probably jump in and make all the mistakes. Faster than those with the perfectionist bent.
The Biggest tip I can give to you right now is to start now, take a deep breath and enjoy the ride. The last point here is to post them to your Facebook, YouTube, and other social media sites. Even if you are just asking for people’s opinions on your efforts.
Do Not Delete Your Videos (In The Beginning)
When you jump in with abandon, you’ll start to notice your immediate improvement and you will get more results this way. The key here is to never delete your videos in the beginning – nor when you are advanced.
You will get views on your videos and if you delete them, that will take away some of your channel juice.
You’ll thank me later! :)
Test, Test, Test!

When you have a “great idea” in marketing, the best rule of thumb is to try it. You never know if it will be a hit.
Most of all, don’t do things halfway. It’s all about the energy you put off. People may not be physical with you. But, they can sense your energy no matter where you are located. Video or in-person is tough to trick people into thinking you are not nervous or hesitant.
Here’s a list of traits that you may want to consider when doing your video marketing.
- State your keywords in your video. This is especially if you are using YouTube as they make a script of what you are saying. So, to do this well, treat it like SEO for video.
- Place little bits of attention-getting stories.
- If your goal is to have videos done efficiently, use your cell phone and upload directly to any video hosting site. Otherwise, if you have time, edit your video and make it look professionally done.
- Use a place that is busy in the background. Our minds are very busy and can “soak” in information faster than you can speak it.
Those tips should help you get started in your video marketing and improve your subscription base, both on your blog and your video social profiles.
