iOS 8 & OSX Yosemite To Streamline Your World In More Ways Than You Know
In the evolution of apple’s devices iOS 8 and OSX Yosemite, there are some things that, as a consumer, we are expecting out of the next generation of products. ?It’s all up to the Uber smart engineers?at apple to continue with?the tradition that Steve Jobs has left behind.
INNOVATION.
That being said, I believe, after watching the video below that apple has done just that with their iOS and OSX operating systems. ?They have been working with other companies to integrate things into the iOS devices, making things streamlined that we all secretly wanted them to do in the first place.
It was okay with us because they answered our dilemmas regarding the best way to use a phone. ?Of course – the answer is “like a computer”.
Now they did us one better and integrated the computer into the phone world. ?We now have the ability to use our Mac laptop or desktop as a phone. ?Imagine being able to charge your iOS device on your nightstand by your bed – just like the rest of the population does – then be able to?answer an incoming phone call??on your computer in the midst of doing what you do best. ?Blogging! ?ha ha
My story is this: ?I’m a business owner and need to have long lasting battery life with my mobile device so that when I’m out, away from home, I have no worries about where to plug in and hence stay connected to social media.
I’m currently using an almost 2 year old iPhone 5. ?That’s ancient in today’s technology world. ?Think of it like this; every 3 months (and it may be shorter now) is equivalent to a full year in our time.
…and no, this is NOT on a dog timeline. ?LOL.
It’s just how fast technology runs – at the speed of technology!
So my considerations have gone from staying with apple and waiting for the new iPhone 6 to come out mid to late September. Just like they have done now for the past 3 or 4 reveals, or make the jump to android and start learning about the operating system I have so unequivocally stayed away from since the inception of android.
Knowing what is coming soon in the latest iOS 8 is a precursor to what the new iPhone 6 will be like. ?They make these updates to go hand in hand.
I admit that now android has come leaps and bounds. ?For instance, you are able to take your heart rate directly from the phones hardware. ?No third party gadget needed as is the case with Apple & Nike. ?We know that Nike is also a top notch company and that the Nike+ band is also leading the way. ?But my concern is that if you do get this band, are you more likely to lose this or is this something you keep on you all the time like a watch?
So, I started looking for a new device to replace my current iPhone because I’m eligible to do so now with the new plans available with AT&T. ?(yes, I have thought about switching that too – that’s another story/blog).
The new Samsung S5 has just the right feature set on the phone that would open the door to a switch. ?The only variable is what the new iPhone 6 will be presenting.
- Will?the camera be a much improved device and perhaps up to or greater than 16 megapixels?
- Will the microphone get a much needed upgrade?
- Will the screen be as sharp and crystal clear as the Samsung S5?
Nobody really knows yet until the announcement of the new iPhone 6 comes in September.
There are plenty of speculations being touted by blogs and Podcasters alike about what they think is going to happen with the iPhone 6 reveal. ?However, if they focus on even just a few of the items I need, I will definitely stay as a customer of the iOS and OS X environment
…and a loyal one at that! This is coming from someone who, for over 18 years has supported the PC/IBM machinery.
Perhaps it’s just my way to escape the drama of the windows environment?!
I will be posting what I decide to do in September so you will be in the know. ?Keep checking back for more updates and blog posts.
So here’s the Apple WWDC video straight from their YouTube channel and placed here for your convenience.
UPDATE:?I have chosen both phones. ?What I mean by that is that I originally chose the Samsung S5 due to it being cheaper than the iPhone 6. ?However, the phone quality of the Samsung S5 was by far inferior and not acceptable in my opinion. ?It sounded very weak in sound quality and this is true for both the speaker and hand held earpieces. ?The other major defect that ultimately was the final straw was the very poor bluetooth connectivity that I experienced. ?This was not jsut a one off either as I saw the very problem I was having with other users on the forums. To my knowledge there was not a fix for it coming until the new OS arrived which could be 6 months down the road in the spring of 2015. ?
The phones were returned to our cell phone providers just passed the 2 week, no questions asked return period. ?So I ended up paying the restocking fee for both phones (my wife and I). ?We decided to put in our order for the iphone 6 (64GB, Gray and Black).
So our new phones arrived on Black Friday and we are now using our new Iphone 6 without any issues or problems with the phone. ?In fact the phone quality?is MUCH better than the android phones we used for about 2 weeks.
We are in a world where the phone has been turned into a computer on the go device. ?However, we still purchase these devices to be the best phone possible and when that doesn’t happen, the device is minified to a very expensive tablet.
The iPhone 6 has out of the box clarity on the phone and you can use facetime audio that clears the call up even more when you are on wifi (carrier permitting at this point and time).
My vote is for the iPhone 6 over the Samsung S5 by the mere fact that the phone delivers a much better sound quality.
