Today, I’d like to share with you a brief story about how marketing has completely changed my life.
I’ve been involved now for over a decade in the marketing industry. It’s not been all that glamorous but it has been a huge chance to learn and become a better person.
What I was chasing was EXACTLY what everyone else wanted – the easy ticket to riches and glory. To live happily ever after on a tropical island, with a boat and a bunch of water toys to take out and have massive fun.
So after the sudden shock and the fastest awakening, I’ve ever had. I realized that the network marketing/internet marketing isn’t for wimps.
The truth of the matter is that you earn by working. WORKING HARD.
Why I Started Marketing
I started back in the early 1990’s with a company called Amway. Maybe you’ve heard of it, maybe you haven’t. 😉
In any case, if you were ever prospected by someone, and you joined, you soon found out that A) the products they sold were amazing, and B) the method at which they told you to get people into the business was very time-consuming (not duplicatable) and you flat-out had to be a superstar in order to succeed.
You had things to do like show the plan, call your prospects, and this was every night after working your regular 9-5 job.
So I lasted as long as I wanted to keep getting the products – which there were so many of them to order.
What Did I Learn From Network Marketing
As I learned and read my books, and chose to have other things that I’d rather pay for, the Sunday night call-ins for ordering became bothersome to me and it really became too much for me at the ripe age of 22.
I was burnt out on network marketing, door to door, 3-way calls, and everything that had to do with home business.
Home business back in the pre-internet days literally consumed your life. That said, the rate at which people would quit a home business was astronomic. I heard people talking that had been great at the home business niche during that time say that it took a toll on their relationships at home. Those married couples became divorced couples, and the ones that made it through the rough times saved their relationships, ended up losing their social lives.
Not something I wanted with my life and now I felt validated that I chose to bail on the home business industry back in the 90’s.
Life Turned Up A New Leaf – Was It A Good Leaf?
I stayed away from the home business industry until around the 2011 time period. I just went through losing my wife to breast cancer (a very aggressive form that the doctors at MD Andersen couldn’t figure out).
So I started looking for ways to increase my income while also getting healthier. I found a company that heavily promoted the health shake. I thought that this would be great and I could promote this type of business.? Especially, since I recently had found out that I was allergy ridden (gluten, dairy, soy, and Egg Free).
That was very limiting as I love bread (gluten).
The shake… Well, let’s just say that it was mostly within my dietary needs.
I have since found a company that does healthy shakes and caters to plant-based needs (Vegan).
What Has Changed Since Then?
There’s one thing that I know about business and that is to be a product of your products. Especially when you’re in the health and fitness niche.
That being said, I still had one huge issue. My skills in the recruiting department were not what they needed to be in order to make money online or offline. I needed a system such as this one that would be willing to teach me like a university would and allow me to learn on the job. I have now been able to get leads at will and now I’m able to convert them into sales which basically means I can print my own paycheck due to the education I have now.
