Of course, these posts need to be of high quality or you’re going to see your rankings drop. So if you’re a blogger and want to start seeing results on your search engines by way of 1st-page rankings, then you need to be a performer of great content on a regular basis.

I mentioned that some bloggers are doing daily posts, but understandably, most professionals cannot handle this type of schedule. So if you are able to post just one blog per week or every 2 weeks, that’s great!

Have you ever read a blog that was dry or just told you a bunch of facts that you really didn’t know what they had to do with you or your search to answer your issue?

The problem with that is that techies are not necessarily the type of genre that you would want to blog for because when they are looking for answers they aren’t looking for anything to buy – just information.

This is called Long-tail keywords, and I’ll get into this in a different blog post (big topic to cover)

You’ll also want to include your keyword in your blog post, photos, URL, and title. All of these need to be at a ratio of about 1-2 words per 100 words in your post.

Now if you are brand new to the blogging world, you may need to also get setup with an email list system.

I’m currently using Drip which I highly recommend you use. It’s basic enough for beginners yet can be expanded greatly if and when you’d like to do that.

4. Image Spacing to Aide Readability

Using WordPress is a great way to get your blog started in the right direction. However, there are a few things that are not quite right about the total package.

One of these is the default spacing for pictures. If you’re like me, and most other bloggers, you know that having the proper amount of padding between the image and your text is great for both eye appeal and readability.

Both of these are essential for readers to be able to decipher your content in a quick and orderly fashion. The best practice to get your images spaced out properly is to check the code. The proper syntax for an image to show up in a blog post is as follows:

There is another part of this text version to putting an image in. Here are some tips that are useful for WordPress optimization and better performance. It will reduce the CPU burden that WordPress puts on the server.

1 – Upgrade to the latest WordPress version.

Yes, you’re probably reluctant to upgrade if it?s already working but note that every WordPress update always contains bug fixes and improvements so there is no reason not to upgrade.

Sooner than later, you will need to upgrade to blocks (Gutenberg). This should be a priority in your quest for WordPress optimization!

On the other hand, if you just don’t have the time to do this, Use a host that will do this automatically for you.

2 – Remove unnecessary plugins

I know the plug-ins are nice but are you sure you really need those plug-ins? If you don?t need them, just delete the unneeded plugin. It’s taking up processing power on your webhost. This is what could be slowing up your website. You can always install it later if you need it.O

3 – Activate Plugins That Are Needed

For example, you don?t need to activate a Theme previewing plug-in if you are not planning to change a theme. You don?t need to activate a WordPress database backup plug-in if you are not auto scheduling a backup, and so on.

4 – Install “WP-Super-Cache”

If you’re really looking to improve your speed gains, then this is one that is paramount to increasing your website speed

It is clear that the wp super cache has great WordPress optimization while having the lowest overall resource hit on the server. It should always be using the least amount of memory and CPU time that it possibly can.

5 – Reduce PHP/Database Calls

Most CPU usage is caused by the number PHP and database calls. Using WP-Super-Cache helps this tremendously but sometimes it can?t be helped that your blog still has to do some PHP/Database calls. If you can reduce it though, do it. For example, if a plug-in allows you to set an option whether to write a log or not (like the number of spam comments caught, etc), then disable it. This will reduce the number of database insertion/update calls. As a technician on computer systems, I?ve found more wasted CPU processes spent on things that are not used. This one item will get WordPress optimization on the way quicker than anything I?ve said so far.

6 – Reduce the number of Widgets and other components

Although putting a weather widget or other widgets are cool, do you really need them? Besides cluttering your blog and turning visitors off it can also put a strain on the server.

7 – Repair and Optimize

Your database gets updated several times a day, whether you?ve posted or not. There?s a lot of chance for errors there. The process can be completed through the cPanel.

Under the Databases section, click on PHPMyAdmin ?>> Select (your WordPress database).

Notice the table that appears. This contains all your posts, categories, comments, blogroll links, users, etc.

Scroll to the bottom. Click on Check All.

To the right of Check All you?ll find a drop down.

Choose ‘Repair’

Repeat the process and choose Optimize from the menu. (Note that you really only need to do this if you have a lot of overhead in your tables. Check it often.)

8 – Close Any Post Writing Pages When You?re Not Using Them

WordPress will Auto-Save and it uses server resources and builds up CPU usage. It’s a rather simple task to do but it does close out another process that wordpress is not having to save and update.

9 – Turn Off The Formatting Options in Settings

In WordPress, under Settings->Writing uncheck both Formatting options. Especially turn off ?WordPress should correct invalid nested X-HTML automatically?.

10 – Don?t Post Via eMail/Word

Write your posts in the default wordpress writing interface. If you’re not done writing copy/paste it into Word.

There are plugin’s that help with getting rid of the garbage that word produces when copying and pasting to other apps or in this case, your blog. Just know that your MS Word doc is not the same when pasting to your blog.

11 – Use Summaries in Feeds.

Under Settings->Reading, select use Summaries in Feeds.

12 – Turn Off Any eMail Notifications You Don?t Need

especially redundant ones. If you go to your blog often, don?t worry about having it e-mail you for comments. Just turn that off. This can be found Under Settings-Discussion

13 – Reduce File Sizes

Use Photoshop, Gimp etc to reduce the image size, and if you are uploading a video, make the file size as small as possible for faster downloading on a slower network connection. This is another big item to accomplish in your WordPress optimization.

14 – Rename Backup Files

The file wp-cron.php should be renamed to wp-cron.php.bak. This is a good one to do but not as important to do for your WordPress optimization.

15 – Switch To A Simpler Theme

If you?ve done all the optimizations above, you may need to switch to a simpler theme. There are many themes out there each one is programmed/designed differently by different developers. Do you research on each theme to see how fast they load? It may be just that one extra second that keeps your visitor on your page reading!

Well if you’ve been living here on this planet for a while, and have also paid attention to the buzz. You would know that it’s truly the words that we speak that are so very powerful.

My upbringing was one that was positive when I was on the baseball field all throughout my days as a teenager. Growing up playing sports was huge in my development as a person. We never spoke negativity and always supported each other.

It was as if there was an unwritten code within our team that we all kept each other up and never spoke depressing emotions to each other.

Perhaps you’re doing something right now that you feel like you have to prove to yourself that you can be successful in. Go ahead and do that but know that if you decide to stop what you are doing now. It does not mean that you have given up or quit.

What this really means is that you’ve found what your passion is and that is when true success really comes flooding into your life.

My suggestion is to start to focus on changing your inside game. Learn how to propel your business success story to bigger things each day, week, month, and year. That’s the only way to hit those goals.

I was once of the mindset that I could set a goal 90 days out and because I set that goal, I would just go about doing the things that I have always done.

Let me tell you the truth here…

You will always get what you have always received with the efforts and work that you have always put in. In other words, change what you do and you will receive the change you put in.

So, having said that…

When is the perfect time to build a business? A business that sets people free from the doldrums of their daily jobs? Well… The answer to that question is an emphatic NOW!

The real question that needs to be asked is what are you willing to give up in your social life in order to get what most will not ever have.

Making The Perfect Time For Yourself To Succeed

I’ve found that many people will agree with the statements I made above and then dismiss them because they don’t see them making any difference in their lives. However, if you take a step back and look at how you treat your time, you’ll quickly understand how much time is wasted at the TV or browsing social media. It literally only takes an hour per day of action towards your goal. Hopefully, it’s a goal that will cause you to be more profitable!

Take a look at your life. Make the necessary adjustments such as cutting your social media time down. Start by decreasing your browsing time and doing business-oriented tasks that will set you financially free. You will also need to get a blog set up so that you have a home on the internet.

How To Get Lazy Members To Produce In Your Business

There are thousands upon thousands of people in a top producers business, and to be quite honest, they need every one of them to make the money they are making. But what if they could get those members that are “lazy” to start producing in their business?

I, personally think that this is an area that many make the mistake of trying to “encourage” these people, rather than being the type of person that just goes and steps into the leadership role by recruiting more people. Leadership by example.

Step One: Mindset Of A Leader

The first thing you’ll need to change is removing the word lazy from your vocabulary. It’s not like they are going to do something different from what you have preconceived them to do. For instance, if you have a neighbor that is very grouchy or just messy – you could insert anything that is really not that desirable of a trait to have.

Joe, in this case, is quite grouchy and he’s walking towards you in your front yard. What’s the first thing that comes out of your mouth?

“Oh, No! Here comes grumpy Joe and I do not like dealing with him when he comes around.”

You are essentially giving him or her a destiny to live up to whether you want that or not. Your words are very powerful because your subconscious listens to you 24 hours a day. So what you can change about this situation is simple.

Start to say things that are life-giving rather than speaking negativity. This one change alone will give you the change in your business that you’re looking for in a quicker fashion.

Lazy Becomes The Possibility Marketer

Now if you’re going to foster a great relationship with these marketers that haven’t produced any results, you might as well start encouraging them and when they come to you asking about building a business, you can respond with some homework.

Give them something to do that is going to help them get off the floor of their business and get some action started.

How To Be Instrumental In Change

If network marketing is the venue, then tell them to go prospect 5-10 new people who are not friends or family. Give them some traffic methods if they aren’t willing to go out and talk to people. If they are in internet marketing, have them message at least 25 people and come back with results of 10 or more responses and how the conversations went. Just think outside the box and realize that most people are starting out with an employee mindset.

Blogging has been a journey of learning from trial and error for me. I’d recommend you get a blog setup if you want your reach to expand.

If you don’t have a blog yet, you’ll want to begin setting this great tool up for your online marketing. Don’t forget that you can use this blog for offline reference as well (e.g. business cards, license plate frames, mobile magnet signs, etc.)

Why?

Your blog is your only home on the internet. It’s there that you’ll be able to showcase YOU. Give people a reason to do business with you.

Sure, you say that Facebook is free and they allow you to do whatever you want within reason. That may be so for now. But, you should understand that they can and do remove business pages for even a hint of wrongdoing. That also goes for doing business on your personal profile.

My opinion is that Market Samurai is a solid, viable and useful product for beginners through advanced bloggers. If you’re on a budget, like most marketers starting out, go get a discounted version of Market Samurai so that you have something better than the keyword planner.

Many marketers will say, just use the free keyword planner. However, this now requires an account for Ad-words. This isn’t a bad idea if you plan on using Ad Words later on in your marketing. As you can see just from my brief pros and cons of this great product you will have much more data to work with than using the free Google Keyword Planner. It’s that dreaded question that almost every new business owner frets. Its a question that, quite frankly has too much anxiety living around it. That question is “how much money have you made so far?”

I heard that it takes up to 7 times to present something to someone before making a decision. Those that quit after the 2nd or 3rd attempt are the ones that are part of the masses who fail most of the time.

My Takeaways From “The Secret”?

1. Gratitude

It’s one thing that I have seen in life that most just have no comprehension about doing on a regular basis.? I grew up being extremely grateful because of the life I was leading and getting to play baseball as a reward for doing well in school was on point with me.

So, when that stopped (school), I felt as if there wasn’t much to set my sights on and therefore got depressed. What I should have done? Looking back, I should have found a happy place I loved to be in and be thankful for that place.? I can now see that baseball was my happy place at that time of my life.

Even though most have a tough time sitting through a game, I love the strategy in every play, pitch, walk, hit, or coaching move.

2. Thoughts Are Where Things Start Out

Growing up I would not have been able to tell you the meaning of any of the deeper things in life.?

Sure, I heard many times in church that we are supposed to guard our heart and mind as well as, take every thought captive.? But what does that mean??

Nobody really explained that to me and I was too busy at the time to really figure it out on my own. Instead, I put those things on the back burner. Then I ran into this book which explained to me why things are the way they are and how to get more out of life.

In the book, the author explains that the things we focus on will grow.? Which means that if you are focusing on the bad, those things will grow in your life.? It makes sense that I would begin changing my?focus to good things.? Stating my “I AM…” statements out loud?to myself changes my outlook and experience in life.

3. Set Your Intention

Growing up and being exposed to the Bible, I remember hearing that “all things are possible”.?

But did I believe it?? Not at the time.?

What I believe now is if you set your intention and focus on a goal you will accomplish it.

This reminds me of a time when I was a pre-teen.? I wanted to attain a walkman that had all the gadgets in one unit. The features were pretty spectacular for the time period.?

The first step was to find it in a catalog, I believe it was JCPenny or one of those gadget?catalogs?at the time.

Then, I proceeded to cut it out and post it up in my room where I would see it all the time.? I set my intention to buy this genius contraption then set a plan to achieve it.

After the setup, putting action to my plan by starting to do odd chores around the house without being asked as well as?outside of the home.

Basically, anything I could do to get the $147 to buy this walkman. It was a few months of hard work but I was able to get the money. The money order was sent off to the company. Then, in a couple weeks time from ordering, a box showed up at our front door. I was completely excited! It was like Christmas arrived early that year.? I achieved my goal!

Those are just a few of the takeaways that I got from listening to this audiobook.? The movie was good too.? What I found it to be a bit short and very topical compared to the book.? I suppose I should have expected that though.

I have been very anti-Pinterest up until about January of 2018.? I never saw a really good reason for engaging on this social network.? Pinterest is, from what I’ve read and observed, a huge source of traffic.? But not all traffic is equal.? You want to have targeted traffic.

- Typically called promoting blog posts.
- I use Hootsuite Pro to do all this in an automated fashion

Pinterest For Blogging Tips

Typically, there are months that are high in traffic for those in the northern hemisphere.? It’s all about where people are located during these time frames.? Those in the southern hemisphere are either outdoors in the sun or inside due to rain and wind.? If you’re in the northern hemisphere, you know that during this time we are typically inside braving the winter weather.

This has typically influenced when people are on a computer.? However, since Pinterest is also a mobile app, the weather isn’t so much of a factor of when people are on the internet and using the Pinterest Application.

So, Pinterest Traffic is garnered by a few different methods.

Directly from the board where the pin is located.
- This will give you the option to visit the website that posted the pin.
From a different Pinterest user that shared the pin on his/her board(s) because it was a quality pin that deserved to be re-pinned.

You can see from those 2 methods, how it can spiral throughout Pinterest and then you’ll start to see traffic from efforts you did yesterday, last week, month and even last year.

What’s The Best Strategy To Use With Pinterest Board Pinning?

As I entered into the Pinterest?world, I began to read blog posts about how to pin and gain more readership on my blog.? It felt like a huge task to learn but I did my research when I could and also took action on what I did know at the time until I learned something new.

Something I learned at the beginning of my entrepreneurial ventures is that knowledge without action is useless.

So here’s one thing that seems to be a pattern in my research so far.

Using a system to do the posting for you at specific times is a must.
- I like to use a couple of these automation systems.
  - Tailwind?- this app will give you access tribes.? I like this app because of how it does scheduling for pins.? You’ll want to schedule pins from other boards as well as yours.? This shows your leadership and provides a sense that you’re looking out for your followers best interests.
  - Board Booster – I use Board boosted to do a few other tasks with automation.? Being a techie, I love automation but realize the power of personal engagement.
    - Cycling pins by removing them and then reposting.? There are options to tell which pins can be removed based on how many shares, or how popular the pin is on Pinterest.
    - Campaigns, Looping, Scheduler, Tribes.? These are the options you have when you’re a paying customer.? I believe you get a trial using the scheduler.
    - Maintenance is going to include:
      - Pin Doctor will test any of your boards for things like missing links, to broken links and even suspicious websites.
      - Pin Mover does exactly what it says it does.? Moves pins from one board to another.
      - Group Manager –?Group Manager is a tool for owners of Collaborative Boards. It monitors all pins added by your contributors and identifies your best contributors as well as any contributors that don’t follow the rules of your group board.
Posting manually has been a huge lift to traffic for some blogs.
- I have not done much in the manual posting but some blogs I follow have seen a huge jump in traffic using this method.? Carly from MommyOnPurpose.com has done very well by posting manually.

One of several bloggers I like following is Michelle at NerdyOrganized because she knows the nerdy stuff like SEO and Keywords and…. well go over and check her blog out.

One of the biggest lessons that I learned when I started getting deeper into Pinterest was the importance of having a list of groups that you are a part of.? This will allow you to spread your blog pins around the Pinterest community.

I started out by going to Tailwind and did what I thought was the easy step on the right foot.? But there’s more than just one step to Tailwind.? It’s all about getting aligned to a few groups on the Tailwind platform and then also adding yourself to a bunch of groups that you find on the Pinterest site itself.? So as an entrepreneur, I found that it was not as easy as getting 3 to get 3 and so on.

It’s more along the lines of getting 100 to get 10 maybe’s and then 1 or 2 will say yes. (These are the industry standards)

I knew that what I wanted was out there but I didn’t know how to get leads.

Online was foreign to me and offline was an unknown that I was very hesitant to step into.

Blogging was all the rage (and it still is). Start your own blog the right way because it’s twice the work to fix it all when you don’t start off right. I’ve been in the I/T world for over 20 years now and I show you in the simplest terms how to get started making money with a blog.

That blogging company was awesome because it showed me that there is a way to get leads using a blog. Something I knew nothing about at the time. I always thought that blogging was for big companies.

It’s not.

The struggle seems to be for new entrepreneurs to market to those who sign up on their lists. These lists are mostly handled by the company autoresponder because having a system of their own to send emails to is a bit foreign.

Hopefully, this isn’t the case anymore.

When I started using an autoresponder, I started with GetResponse. They have a pretty good email marketing system. If you’re just starting out, I would recommend this system to you. However, if you have any sort of list and want to add some automation to your list, then I would definitely suggest you start out with Drip by the makers of Leadpages.

Like I said, I started out with GetResponse and was doing fairly well. I still had a steep learning curve though. My email list wasn’t as responsive as those leaders I was following and I didn’t know why.

So, as I did more research. I realized that I was put on an IP address that didn’t deliver emails to most of my list. This was probably due to the newbie in me trusting the leaders. I would send out email after email that they called swipes.

Now, if I send those out, I edit them to be more my style rather than verbatim.

Email Marketing Systems Are The Wave Of The Future

Actually, the wave of the future is here right now!

It would be my suggestion to start using a marketing system to do your email autoresponder, capture page, and automation. The reason for this is simple.

You want to know when a subscriber buys your product, right? You’ll also want to know that they were automatically moved from one list to another because of their actions.

Not only that but as you email your subscribers, you want to find out why they joined your list, to begin with. This will help you in the segmentation of your list. In the grand scheme of things, you’ll be better off because you’ll be offering something to your subscriber that they already want to buy.

It’s a win-win for both parties involved!

I started out on a great autoresponder that morphed into a marketing system. However, I love what Drip does in offering everything that is important to an email marketing system. The story goes like this from the founders of Drip.

In a nutshell, they were using active campaign. They found it to be the best of what they wanted in an email marketing system but it was never EVERYTHING.

So they decided to build a system that encapsulated what they envisioned in an email marketing system.

What I found with Drip is an advanced software system that you can use without the advanced price point. They are very comparable to the pricing that you would get with a system like Aweber (just released their version of automation) or GetResponse.

However, the drip email marketing system has a price point of FREE if you never go over 100 contacts. Both Aweber and GetResponse have a 30 day trial period which at that point is basically a charge of $29.99.

Drip also gives you all the tools right up front with the free program so that you can begin to integrate your marketing while you’re building your list up. I found this to be a very low-pressure method to inviting you in to try the product. Which I believe is superior to most other email marketing systems.

One key component with Drip is that they allow affiliate marketing to be done with their system. However, I would say that if you’re marketing affiliate MLM’s they will shut you down with a warning. I have not seen this personally but I know what their stance is on this matter. It’s all to protect their amazing deliverability rates.

Workflow Automation

As with GetResponse, you will have the workflow automation feature. Something that GetResponse does is charge you to use the full ability of workflows. Like I have stated already, Drip gives you full ability to use all features right from the start using your FREE account.

This graphic is pulled from each perspective website. If you want to try drip out and ease into this product without having to feel rushed by a 30-day time limit, you can do so with Drip. However, if you prefer to pay the $49/month right from the start, you will most likely choose GetResponse or Aweber.

Aweber pricing is very comparable and perhaps a few dollars cheaper per month. However, Aweber just published their version of what GetResponse and Drip are already doing with their email marketing system

I do like GetResponse, but Drip is definitely hands over feet better because you are literally able to customize much more. For instance, you can track visitors on your blog and where they are clicking (yes, you can do this on Google Analytics too).

Isn’t that what we want in a system like drip? Customization and tracking.

That’s the only way we know what people are doing on our websites. This allows us to improve each and every day, week, or month depending on when you do your reviews of your website(s).

No, we aren’t talking about any of those types of tags, triggers, or goals. What we are talking about matters of your email marketing system. It’s what pulls your customers through the workflow you’ve set up for them.

My first experience was with GetResponse. I was able to be a beta tester and had full access to the system for a brief period of time. Then figured out that I wasn’t getting the deliverability with Getresponse due to them tagging me as a mailer that pitched all the time.
The brief story on that is basically me starting out as a newbie marketer starting out with my first autoresponder. Having no clue as to what to send and not knowing at the time each pitching email would be hurting my sender rating. This is something that they will not tell you about but it definitely exists.

Having experienced what GetResponse offers with their new marketing system, I know that using tags in their system requires you to upgrade to the next level up from their email level. I was using the entry-level (email) and did not upgrade to the “Pro” level mostly because I was not getting good deliverability of my emails.

Goals Make Automation Work

If you know much about triggers, you know that you can do a bunch with them and the sky is the limit in what you use them for. There is a slight variation that I have not ventured into yet and this variation is called Goals.

Here’s what Drip describes goals as:

Goals are a powerful workflow tool that will help you take your automation to the next level.
A goal is a step in a workflow?that when achieved?removes the subscriber from any step directly above it.

Goals are what you need to make automation work. If you know me at all, you should know that I love to automate what I can without losing out on the human interaction.

So an example goal would be a purchase of one of your products. The goal would pull your subscriber out of any delay or email campaign and into the stage where the goal resides in the workflow.

Integrations

I know that I won’t use all these integrations that Drip has available but it’s good to see that they have close to 100 third-party integrations ready to go for you to add triggers, goals, workflows to in your email marketing.

Things like Facebook ads, Clickfunnels, and of course Leadpages are all part of this amazing email marketing system.

You will be able to integrate a CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) so you’ll have the complete system setup within Drip.

Currently, these 3rd party CRM’s are integrated into Drip.

I’ve worked for large and small companies in the IT field and know how valuable it is for CRM’s to be used to keep your contacts details all in one spot.

Salesforce is one of the big players in the CRM marketplace. For entrepreneurs that are starting out, you may want to consider using something like Insightly.

Insightly is a great choice and most getting started are on a tight budget. This is a big reason that drew my attention to them as a CRM provider.

This Is A “(Fill In The Blank Objection)”

If you’re in business, you’ve probably heard many responses as to why they won’t join you in business. But you need to know that it’s not the end of the journey for your prospect. In today’s post, we are going to tackle how to overcome scam or pyramid scheme objections.

Here are a couple of retorts, if you will, that you could ask them.

Of course, do this in a manner that says to them that you care about them and would never WILLINGLY mislead them.

Ask them the question: “Do you have a job?”. Most of the time, they are going to say yes. If they don’t have a job, ask them what they do for a living.
- The point of this line of questioning is to show them that they are already in a pyramid system that is rapidly changing. As a result, you can then show them how we are now in a digital world.
Ask if they have been paying attention to how difficult it is to trade time for money. This is a question to build your authority. You know something that they need to learn about (online or offline presence).
Ask them if they are willing open thier mind to new possibilities. If they cannot see themselves jumping in and learning, then show them this video

If you receive a retort from someone who you are trying to scam them into buying. Right off you probably should ask yourself, how much do you want a person that is quick on the draw to distrust what you do?

The other consideration is that when they do come back with this objection, it’s mainly out of fear. Fear comes from many instances.

This is where you find out if you can move forward with prospecting them or if you just need to move on and forward.

Ask these questions:

Is this a reaction based because of fear of losing money?
Does this person not trust people who want to help them? So everything is a scam to them.
What is their motivation for wanting to start a home business?

Find out a little more about them and see if you can find out why they respond like they have to you. Because the whole idea here is to find out how you can overcome scam or pyramid scheme objection they have tossed out at you.

Why The Scam or Pyramid Objection Is Presented

There is a deeper issue going on here when the objection of a pyramid or scam comes up. Typically, they have either been a part of or heard someone gets taken for their money if the customer is claiming your business is a scam.

If we were to delve a bit deeper into the scam objection, you’ll see that the customer does not trust you…

..YET!

If you’re willing to put some effort into gaining their trust, you will have a customer and perhaps a great friend!

On the pyramid side of things, it’s just a matter of showing the prospect that they are already in a system built on pyramids. It’s called the industrial age where people show up to work every day. Putting in their 8-12 hours of work for hourly pay.

The only thing that has changed is that we have moved to the digital age and the potentially wealthy are learning how to leverage their time to make themselves rich both in time and financially.

What You’re Saying To The Prospect.

So, the choice is theirs (or yours if the shoe fits).

Learn the way to wealth and prosperity or continue getting what you’ve always been receiving.

Most people are not happy with what they are bringing in, so they look in other avenues to increase. I believe that’s why uber and other services are so popular. Because it’s the belief that they don’t have to sell anything to receive an extra income.

The truth of the matter is that you are always selling something.

How else would a driver for Uber get a tip? They are selling their service to the rider. If the ride was pleasant, the driver is more likely to get a tip from the rider. Even a good write up for the driver is great with a 5 star rating. When we are in business for ourselves, we depend on testimonials and word of mouth advertising.

Now if you’re already selling at every turn but you’re not willing to recognize that you are selling, You should just embrace it and work with what you know. Be honest and never mislead a customer.

That’s a quote that I saw on someone’s wall recently and it’s so simple yet very profound.

I find that people tend to move so fast in today’s world (especially in the U.S.A) that we forget to stop and smell the roses.

Why is it that way?

The Million Dollar Question

You see when you stop and think about the things that we as American’s do all day long, it can really start to cause stress in life.? There’s the daily job drama that can add to those stresses.? Not to mention the strife that every family goes through at one point or another in their life.

or, maybe you have a spouse that does SO MUCH for you that you just don’t realize it until they get sick, end up in the hospital and then find out there’s no cure for that sickness.

This is what happened to me back in 2010.

I couldn’t believe my eyes.? Here I was battling a kidney stone wondering when and where I’ll get to actually get to get rid of the stone and the feeling of having to go to the bathroom all the time and not knowing if it will actually happen or not.

Making The Best Out Of What You Have

You see I got married early as a late teen and then turned right around and got divorced. I fell into a depression and spun my wheels for several years.

Then, I met my 2nd wife who I thought would be my wife for MANY MANY YEARS.? We had plans to get rich…uh hem…WEALTHY.

You know…? just like most of us do.

But “how” was the question.? She would ask her dad to give me tips on how I could set out to accomplish this too.? Her dad was the model of success that she had access to in life – even when she was sick.

But all he would tell us is to work hard.? Honestly, I don’t think he really knew what to say because of when and where he grew up. He lived in the industrial age – which is no longer the age we live in.

Today, we live in the digital age, which makes complete sense for her dad not to know what to tell us…

Work hard to get good grades so maybe you’ll be accepted into an elite college, where you’ll be lucky enough to work harder to get straight “A’s”.?

Once that’s complete, you’re off to work for an employer that has the complete control of how much you make when you get to take a vacation and how much you take.

This usually speaks to where you take a vacation as well.? Your employer doesn’t want you to go too far away from your post if you’re in management.? To solidify this, they give you a cell phone with email access and a laptop to do work while on vacation.

That’s not what I wanted in life.?

There had to be more in life than this.

I didn’t sign up for a job as a slave just to have the things that I wanted in life.?

Nor did I sign up to have a wife die early to one of the deadliest diseases known to Americans and probably around the world.

Cancer.

It took only 10 months for her to go from healthy to bedridden and blind, then off to heaven.

It seemed that my dreams and hopes were gone.

But as fate would have it, only 2 years later I would be married to my current wife and have the best time of my life.

It seems that we really do get what we focus on and it doesn?t matter what it is we focus on.?

Positive, negative, indifferent, poor, rich, lack, abundance.

It?s all there for us to grab as much as we want, of whatever we want.

But that?s just a glimpse of what I have learned.

The fact that I found a way to express myself and also have a way to change my financial future is what I call truly blessed.

How did I find this blessing?

Simple.

Before my 2nd wife got sick, she started selling things through home parties.

I liked the products (candles in this case) but didn?t really want to do home parties to make extra money from home.? Besides, how many people sign up to do home parties in the spare time that they already don?t have?

Not me.

I wanted to find a way on how to start making money online with my own business…

So I kept searching.

I went from one company to another and watched friends go to new heights in their business only to see me still struggle.? (sound familiar?!)

I did some investigating and realized I was stuck because of my mindset, and in the beginning, you need a support system at the very least.

The biggest area that anyone can improve upon is the area of self-improvement.?What isn’t realized in this statement is how powerful you are and that goes for negative influences too.

The next step to seeing the success you want in business is to be laser focused.

What does this mean?

Simply put.? Stay consistent with the fundamentals you are being taught.

Keep on track with mindset improvement.

Continually drive more traffic to your business.? Whether it be your blog post from a new blog site you are building or a funnel that drives sales.? It’s how you let the marketplace of your business.

Last and probably the most crucial step to your success is DO NOT GIVE UP AFTER 1 WEEK.? 1 week of failure does not mean you failed.? Press into the skill that you’re building. This is akin to going to the gym and working out because you want a better and stronger body.

While I was doing my studies in my marketing.? You know… reading, listening to audio, etcetera.? There I sat watching a video and wouldn’t you know, this blog I’m writing is literally?coming directly from the inspiration of someone very famous in the marketing world.? Now it’s my turn to put the 5 essential elements of a successful business.

Before we dig in, let’s get to the crux as to why you’re on this blog post.? You’re looking for a way to solidify your home business so that your business will move from being a money pit to a money magnet.? Let’s take your business?(and you do have one, right?) and see what you’re doing right and what you’re doing wrong.

There are 5 essential elements of a successful business.? We know that because that’s what we are about to tackle and find out why only 5 and not 4 or 6.

Now, let’s make a decision as to the nature of your business.? That decision being true is that your business is not a scam or that the owners of that business are upfront individuals.? Ready to tackle any criticism if necessary.

There might be a few other key?things that need to be agreed upon but those are the big ones.

The First Element Of A Successful Business

1. Traffic

It doesn’t matter where your business is located in the world.

Online.

Offline.

In order for you to get any sales, you need traffic running through your store.? This is how you go about telling everyone about your new business.? If for instance, you started a new store up on Broadway.

The dreams start in with the thinking that you’re going to not only help out but you have vivid dreams of what sort of vacation you’ll be embarking upon in the very near future. Yet, these very people forget that there are basics in building any sort of business.

So do your due diligence and find a business that will not be tough to get traffic offline or online.

2. Make Your Customers Informed Of Your Business

It’s said that if you have no awareness of what you’re doing, there will be nothing to harvest.

When you’re taking your business?to new levels.? In this case, from ground zero.? You need to let the people who you know close around you know that you have a business.? This is how you start.? Yet there are so many that literally?run away or retreat from this very thing.

Your family and friends are there to support you, right?

Well, if that’s true then tell them about your business and your reason for?doing business, that coincides?with your business successes to come.

After you have declared your business to be in business, you have the opportunity to delve into advertising.

Now, this can be long and treacherous or short and costly.? There is no way to advertising your business.

After you have chosen your path, and most choose both the paid and free methods.? You’ll start to gather interest in your product.

Why Blogging For Business Works

One way that I promote is to start a blog.? This is an excellent way to start showing your character, as well as a “free” way to promote whatever you want to promote.? I placed the quotes around the word free because as you may have guessed, nothing is free.? The cost of blogging is an upfront cost and then it is your time.? However, it’s not the thousands upon thousands that most businesses require to get started.

Upon going all into what your business is about.? Most of the time you’ll see entrepreneurs go half in and fail sooner or later.? That decision can cost you in the long run, but the decision that you want here is the customer’s decision to say yes, I want your product or I want to join your team.

It’s all because you started to inform your customers how your business works and then you show them the value of your business.? This is where the customer desires what you have. Taking action is what the customer will do and that’s what you want.? A sale of your product so that you make a profit.

I’ve brought you through the stages of getting your customer to like, know and trust you.? But now what do you do when your customer is on your list, opening your emails consistently, but not buying your products.? Top Tier is a method of Selling high ticket items to customers that need a particular set of skills, tools, or products.? These will come on the back-end of the relationship for the most part.? This is true even for a company like Ferrari. They usually get people to come into their showroom and see the beauty of a Ferrari.? The customer leaves with a flyer, which is posted on a wall somewhere until that day when they are able to go buy said Ferrari.

The next step of a top-tier solution is to offer maximizers.? Of course, you bought the top of the line product, but did you know you can also have this upgraded stereo, or perhaps you want better tires with that Ferrari 812.

A perfect example of this is the system I use currently.? It’s a done-for-you-system and all you need to do is complete step 1 and the rest of this is automated for you.

5. Consistency

This is where most fail and end up doing what they don’t love doing.? If you’ve been in this category, don’t worry.? I think at one point or another we have all been there.

Perhaps it’s just something you’re not passionate about?

Maybe you just haven’t found what you would do anyway if money was not a factor.

Lastly, if you’re just starting out, don’t make yourself go out and do a video each day (although learning by immersion is great).? Start out small if you need to.

For instance, if you’re working a full-time job and are a single mom or dad.? Deliver one blog and/or vlog a week.? That will give you plenty of content that will attract the right audience.

The youtube factor has been stated by many vloggers and YouTube as well.? Doing one video a week is the apex of video delivery.? Any more videos per week and you could be hurting the performance of your first video of that week.? Confessions Of A Knowledge Hoarder?

One of the most violated strategies of any online or home business is that of the knowledge hoarder.? If you’ve gone to any sort of training, and never did a thing with that information.? You might be a knowledge hoarder!

Now have you ever thought of yourself as a hoarder?

I didn’t until I took a step back and wondered why I wasn’t getting any traction to my online business.? Then I decided to take a look at why.

That’s when I started to realize that there’s more to just online business that just learning.

I know there’s a ton to learn about entrepreneurial endeavors.? But at what point will you start teaching what you’re learning.

Symptoms Of A Knowledge Hoarder

So there are a few excuses for this syndrome that affects nearly 95% of people on the internet and are entrepreneurs.? If you remember that you are only as good as your next excuse, you’ll start to own up and THAT’S when you start making huge progress in your entrepreneurial endeavors.

Symptom #1

I haven’t done this before so I need to practice this skill.

Ok, so maybe you need to practice a day or a week.

Fair.? I completely get that.

So now that you’ve waited over a month, why haven’t you practiced this skill yet and started teaching what you have learned?

Symptom #2

Now, I’ve sat down and listened to someone talk for an hour or two and they gave really awesome content.? So much so that you took REALLY good notes and plan on putting those notes into practice.

So you went as far as taking notes on a webinar or at an event. Now what?!

Those notes that you’re taking might be misplaced somewhere if you have any similarity to how I organized my notes. It didn’t matter that I have the notes app on my iPhone either.

Notes may keep your notes in one place, but that doesn’t mean they are organized by title.? I know you can search out your notes for specific keywords, but what if you just want to do some review?

My point is that when I started out, I just did notes with the run and gun approach.? Pull out a piece of paper and pen then wrote what I thought I needed to remember about the talk I was listening to.

Afterwards, those notes seemed to get lost in the car, which those papers went into a big bag when I would detail the inside of the car.

Strategies For Better Results

Do you remember when you were taught how to build a business?? The strategy is Learn. Do. Teach.

I’m probably one of the biggest knowledge hoarders that I know.? sounds familiar, right?? (I feel like a complete ID10T because I have all this knowledge and am withholding it from you.)

What To Do About Knowledge Hoarder Excuses

Confessions of a Knowledge Hoarder. Excuses — No need to feel trapped in your own endeavors. Go get what you want!

There’s really only one way out of this mess I like to call, knowledge hoarding.

It’s a simple fix though.

Take one step and start implementing what you know as well as what you learned.? Now teach it in some way.? There’s a really great way to do that. I’m pretty sure you know a few ways to spread your knowledge around.? You can blog about it, do a video (YouTube, Vimeo).

Now if you’re up to being completely transparent with your audience, you can do a LIVE video either on Facebook, Instagram, Google+, YouTube – which requires 1000 subscribers for mobile LIVE – or do a periscope.? All of these options are great options to begin teaching.

THink about how you will be impacting the marketplace.

Fear of producing great content

I’ve found over the years of my endeavors in the online world of business, I have had a healthy fear – is that even possible to be healthy in fear – of producing the content that I learned.

I supposed it’s simple to figure out why.? Maybe you have been in this camp as well.? Perhaps you can relate to what my fear was all about.

I thought that because I learned something that everyone would go to the same source and learn about the same stuff that I learned and just didn’t need to be the one to teach the topic.? I was told I’m a great teacher and that I should just forget about what could happen (all negative thoughts of failure, rejection, and anything you could imagine) and jump in and follow Nike’s theme.

One of the things you will experience when you cancel out that fear in your head is you feel free to be creative, give advice, jump all in.

I remember a time when I was just starting out in the MLM industry.? A family member approached and I asked about the shakes that she was taking and if they were getting good results.? I? tried them and did my due diligence about the company, then signed up!? I had aspirations to greatness.

Believe me!

Never did I know how to go about getting all these aspirations into a strategy that would reach the masses.? I was dumbfounded when others were absolutely crushing it.

Where are they getting all these leads, and ultimately a bigger downline (just like I was shooting for) I learned a ton from this system

All I could see was the social media influence of friends and family to go and talk to about the new products I had just bought into.

I had a huge fear of talking to strangers, and I am still a little shy.? However, I found strategies that I can walk right into and apply.? Fear has gone because I took action on a strategy that I learned about.? Maybe it was doing a video on YouTube or blogging.

The Write Methods Of Sharing

I used to think blogging was just one big waste of time.? Well, it turns out that it really isn’t wasteful at all.? Why you say, did you think that?

It started when I began my journey in the entrepreneurial world.? I started promoting a company that soon fell by the wayside.? I had to find another to promote.? At least that was what I thought at the time.

So I jumped into a business that sold blogs and told you to blog every day for 3 weeks straight, then it was a 30-day blogging challenge.? All to get page views and yet this blogging industry was so very new.? Nobody REALLY knew how to blog properly to get any traction.

Sure they would get views, sales, etc. by sending their blog posts to their lists of thousands.? But what about the writing methods and where to share them to get the best ROI?? How about finding your crowd?

Like I mentioned above, there’s an awesome opportunity to blog about what you know.? I like this method because not only are you putting it down on “paper” but you are offering your “notes” to the world essentially.? Your notes can be as ugly as ever or very neat and organized.

Obviously, I believe the more organized and readable it is, the more page views you’ll get and repeat visitors.

So, blogging is a great way to start.

There are 2 questions you’ll need to ask yourself first before embarking on the blogging journey.

Who is your niche?? You’ll need to dig in and really be specific on this one.? The reason for this is many.
1. You need to know their language, so you can speak it to them.? Most of the time they have a lingo that you can speak to them and that will be a form of trust.? This brings in the know, like, trust factors when it comes to selling things to your niche/audience.
What is your reason for wanting a better life or for endeavoring to have more?? If your reason for making a splash in business isn’t strong enough, or about something or someone other than yourself, you will end up quitting or never starting.? Solidify your WHY.? Don’t put it off..

As a recovering knowledge hoarder, I know how hard it can be to take that first step.? Honestly, you just have to jump?and trust that you are better for it.

Don’t listen to naysayers.? They are the very people who want to hold you back because they didn’t have the guts to jump out long enough for their parachute to open.? You have got to believe in yourself…

The world can be your oyster if you let it.

It’s that time of year that people start new projects. They either are looking for a new business or want to do something on the side.? Blogging can be very lucrative if done right,? That’s why I’m going to give you 9 must have plugins for WordPress?bloggers to use that will improve your blogs bottom line.

Before I get into those plugins for WordPress, I’d like to give you a little strategy input for your?blog.

Plugins for WordPress?or any other platform like Joomla?can bog down a blog/website’s speed.? That’s why it’s best to keep your plugins to a minimum.

when I started blogging, I thought that any plugin that I could get to add functionality to my blog would be great.? This made complete sense as I’m very focused on gadgets and automation.

One thing to take note of in this blog.? All of the plugins that I mention in this post are free.? However, there are a couple that has a paid version, which I will mention when this option is available.

Pretty Link – I’ve been using my blog now since 2010.? Pretty link has been a part of my blogging for 80% of that time.? What you can do with Pretty Link is shorten an affiliate link or even a longer URL?from your blog.? I love that I can see reports on how the link is doing.? Also, you can put in several links to see which links are getting more attention.Pretty Link also has built into its service a way to brand your blog.? Basically, giving you the owner of your blog authority.? It says that you have a relationship with the other service providers when you offer a link such as https://jonmccaw.com/prettylinkpro, versus prettylink.com.? ?Lastly, I can say that if you’re just doing the shortening of URLs, you can use the free plugin.? No need for the Pro version.? But, if you want to do more, there’s a free trial you can use.

SNAP – Social Network Auto Poster.? This is a plugin that I started using?about 2 months ago.? I absolutely love this simply because its main job is to send out blog posts to your social influence.? The one drawback is that you need to know how to follow directions when setting things up.If you know how to deal with API keys and secret keys, there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.? This will send out your post to as many Facebook pages as you need to be notified.? Also, it will send to Twitter, Tumblr, Stumble upon, Blogger, Plurk, De.Licio.us, Reddit, and you get the idea.? There isn’t a network that you can think of off the top of your where it will not post your blog.

Disqus – This plugin is great for social reach because of how it’s setup.? The idea is that people can comment on your blog and have those comments show up on your blog but managed on the Disqus website.? It’s the best of both worlds.? I’ve gone with other commenting systems before.? But I like the community that Disqus offers.More reasons to use Disqus, rather than it’s just a great commenting tool.? Disqus will allow you to back up your comments separate from your blog back up.? This will allow you to restore your comments if your blog goes down and is not recoverable.? The next reason that I love is that it will work?alongside with Akismet to help remove spam comments.? Lastly, in my list of reasons to have Disqus as your commenting system is you get a notification of new comments.? Other systems do not notify you of new comments.? You are responsible for logging in and checking.

Pinterest Verify – If you’re doing or plan on doing Pinterest. You need to have your website verified.? The reason for this is that Pinterest can then start showing you what pins are being pinned from your website.? That said, make sure your blog is Pinterest ready.? Create tall graphics for pinners to spread the word about your blogging.? As the page says, this plugin hasn’t been updated in a couple of years, but it still works great with the current version of WordPress.

Google Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools).? This “plugin” really is just a connection to google so that you can see analytics on your site.? The data you want to see is what pages are doing really well and what your demographic is.? Age, male or female, location, and even what hobbies they like to do.

WP Smush – One of the detriments to the online health of your blog is the size of your images.? Most bloggers will tell you to use JPEG or JPG format for your images.? However, if you use PNG (yes, it’s a larger file size), you can use WP Smush to reduce the file size on any PNG file.? Most of the time you get a smaller file than if it were JPEG and more customizability.? PNG is a vector based image which allows you to resize and keep clarity/focus on the image.? If given the opportunity, I would take a PNG over JPEG any day of the week!This plugin has a pro version that will allow you to smush more files at a time and better compression.

The Other Million Ideas Can Wait

It’s almost like clockwork. ?People get started with a home business, and then the ideas flood their thoughts about what to do next and what if this and what if that. ?I, too have had these very things happen to me. ?But it was when I decided to get laser focused and just plan my work to get to my goals that I was able to start making traction in my business. Have you ever heard the phrase, “plan your work then work your plan”? ?This is exactly what will cure those thoughts of wanting to do too much.

We are created to focus on one thing at a time. ?If you get distracted, you’re putting yourself in a place lacking of?productivity. Those squirrel moments are cute but not funny.

In the beginning of my career as an online marketer, I thought that if I do exactly what the leaders are telling me to do I would be successful. ?I never stopped to think about how they are doing their methods that makes them successful. ?During my day job I was being trained to do exactly as my manager wanted things to be done or I would get in some sort of trouble. ?There’s always that looming threat of losing your job in some way or another.

That’s just not the case when you own your own business. ?The only thing you have to keep on track is being creative. ?This is where you ask yourself as an entrepreneur, “Who’s paying my bills?” ?This will give you a new perspective and motivation to be the person that is the leader of your company. ?Yes, I said LEADER.

Leaders make much more money than followers do. ?Have you noticed that in life? ?Perhaps you did but never really put much thought to this truth. ?So start stepping into your role of leader today and remove those signs you’re an amateur in home business.

CHALLENGE:

Do something today that positions yourself as a leader. ?Make it something that you would not normally do. ?A good example is to start speaking up on a mastermind you’re a part of with your group. ?You can alternatively start making videos on your choice of social media outlets. ?HUGE TIP: ?Go live! ?Every social outlet has the option of going live now. Use it!

There’s one last item. ?Most people see no sense in doing things that I mentioned above if there’s not a way to make money. ?So if you’re merely checking out the pitfalls of home business, great!? You’re on your way to being more knowledgeable about home business.

How I Stopped Being The Amateur Entrepreneur
