There’s a lot of rumbling when it comes to building your brand in the entrepreneurial space.  You have to pay attention to branding no matter where you’re located.  Whether it be online or offline. 

In short, branding matters.

Look at McDonald’s for instance.? Would you go to any other burger place and expect to order a BigMac from them?? No.? You’d find a building that has branding guiding you to McDonald’s.? Same goes for any other business online.??

The first thing you look for is a name of the business.? Perhaps they have a website by that very name?!??

Social media can be a big and scary marketing monster if you let it, but I have news for you.??

Your presence should be built on one outlet at at time until you are at 1000 fans that continuously engage with you on that ONE PLATFORM.?

So if it’s Facebook, you only focus on Facebook.? Nothing else.

Of course, you’ll go start your profile on each social media outlet so that you have your name reserved.? Brand it and let the people come as they casually do but without any posts or engagement.

In fact, I’d suggest pointing them to your main social media outlet until you reach your goal of 1000 fans on your primary social outlet.

Something that I totally agree with when it comes to social media is what they said over at SproutSocial. Since they are a social media company and they are well established, they should be trusted when they give you wisdom from their blog.

Building Your Branding Mindset

It?s common to be faced with fear of:

  • ?Will I make it???
  • “Can I make my brand appealing?”
  • “Who am I really?

Working for yourself is a whole new outlook.? You’re instantly?rushed into the dilemma?of how to get your business off the ground.?

If you are not marketing your business,? you will have a tough go at making any money. To combat the odds, you’ll need to start creating things of your own.? Products that actually help the marketplace.? Products that actually brand your business.

The first move should be to develop the skills, and attitudes that teach you how to stay focused on building your brand.? It’s no longer acceptable to be in business and not declare who you are based on a brand.??

People want to know from just looking at graphics and logo who the business is.? Just like driving down the road and knowing what you’ll get from a burger place with branding like the following:?

“Have It Your Way”
“I’m Lovin’ It”

How Are Your Logo’s Affecting The Marketplace?

Colors mean a bunch of things and then there’s the factor of which colors get the most attention.

Look at the logo’s above and tell me which color(s) seems to be prevalent in each of the logo’s.

If you answered, red and yellow.? You win!

Notice that burger king throws in a blue color.? A color of royalty.? Makes perfect sense when you factor in their name.

The yellow color always draws attention and the red means in most countries that you have to stop.? Or in their case, stop in and eat.

One of my favorite go to places to search out branding is a place called Pinterest.? There you’ll find the meanings of colors, different color combinations that work well together, and what fonts you can use that work well together.

Where To Start Building Your Brand

The amount of struggle doesn’t have to take long though.? Which is why you can shortcut your learning curve and take your business to new levels.

One mistake people often make is after they create a plan, a couple of weeks later they think it?s not working because they?re not seeing magnificent results. So they try to move on to something else.

Take Your Business To The Next Level

Stick to your branding plan for at least a few months.? If you don’t like what you created after seeing how the marketplace reacts to your brand then make small changes towards what you are looking to accomplish.? Keep in mind that your brand needs to resonate with your niche.

Remeber that things take time. Just like an egg needs time to hatch, building your brand needs time to hatch too.

Remember while you are creating your visual branding, you are also continually creating your personality brand as well.? So be very alert as to how you present yourself on social media and in public.? If you have an online follower spot you out and about, they already have a perception of you.? Most do not need to worry about this because just being yourself will fulfill that perception.

What Fonts Should I Use?

I’m glad someone asked this question.? :)? It’s one that I know is being asked around the internet and yet it never really gets answered 100%.? This is due to the mere variety that we all have in our businesses.

I would like to point you to a resource that I found very useful when creating a brand with fonts.? Most business professionals that have online income, use a resource called PicMonkey or Canva.

Currently, there is nothing that you can find on PicMonkey to guide you in your font branding.? However, if you go to Canva, you’ll find a blog post and several different options to use.? All of these options are provided with insights as to when to use them and what type of brand would usually grab on to these fonts.

What I like about PicMonkey is that it has more of the features that photoshop has at a fraction of the cost.? For instance, if you’re looking to do a drop shadow on text, you can do that function through the tools provided.? In canva, you simply have to do a copy and then change the color to the right drop shadow color then move the shadow around to your liking.? That’s a lot to do for a drop shadow.

Wrapping Up Your Brand Building

As you can see, if you haven’t created a brand you will need to take a weekend and really hone this in and build your brand.? It’s not enough to have a logo, fonts and a catch phrase.?

Your brand needs to resonate with your customers.? Because it’s not about your business but your customers.? They are the heroes of your business.

After you have finished up building your brand, the next step to getting your business off the ground is to get traffic.

Traffic is the keystone to having any sort of profit in business.? Offline or online.

Have you ever thought about building a brand for your online business? I have seen so many people just jump in and start sharing links without building that consistent brand that people will know like and trust.

Building a brand in today’s world is not only necessary but it’s a requirement in my opinion.  As a newbie in online marketing, I found myself pretty much getting nowhere.  I had a tough time getting sales and that was a real bummer.

I attended a Marketing Mastery Event in Las Vegas, Nevada back in 2017. My wife and I went through some pretty awesome training on building a brand and how it literally makes you the authority of your niche.? The way this material was presented was not only on point but also showed us why to build our brand.

When you’re branding is on point your following will grow.? Whether it’s blogging, online marketing, or an offline business.? This is how they (your crowd) associate you and can find you in a busy world.

Why Should We Brand Our Businesses?

Imagine going into a storefront and wanting to buy a cheeseburger, soda, and french fries.  You don’t really know anything other than what you followed your nose to find. But you know they sell all of these things you desire to have for lunch.

Now you have a choice to go to a branded burger establishment or the one you’re in.  Most would leave and go to something that they already know because change is tough for people.  But if the place you’re in had some sort of branding.  They would make more sales because if they like the food, they would tell others about their experience.

This is why I’m also pretty jazzed up that you’re looking to branding yourself. It’s a subject that intermediates and newbies alike are searching online.  Essentially, anyone that does not have a brand needs to build a brand immediately.

Being that it’s the new entrepreneur and even some of the more seasoned (intermediates) searching these terms, it’s a viable topic to talk about here.

Building A Brand From The Start

If you were to go to google and search for keyword terms about this topic you would probably see stuff like the following:

  • How to build a brand
  • How to build a brand online
  • How to build a brand on social media
  • How to build a brand on Twitter
  • How to build a brand on Facebook
  • How to build a brand fast
  • How to build a brand on Instagram

You get the point.  People are searching for brands which they can trust.

Because, thousands type this type of question into Google, Yahoo or Bing.  You’ll want them to search for your brand there as well.

Branding All Entrepreneurial Endeavors

The last part of the equation is you, the entrepreneur.   Let’s dig in so that you can build your brand even if you’re brand new in business.

Are you thinking about branding your business?  If not, I would encourage you to do so.  Branding will bring about a professionalism that a business needs to be taken seriously.  It will also give you a better believe in what you’re doing because, let’s face it, most people have more respect for a branded business.

The general opinion of a self-branded website is that it’s not a fly by night operation looking to make a quick buck.  You’re in this to help people become successful too!

What Elements Do You Need To Build Your Brand Marketing?

First off, you should be already aware that if you’re posting on social media, or talking to other people offline – you’re already a brand.

That said…

Your next step is to focus your brand on something that you believe in so that customers can pick you out of a crowd from your branding.  Don’t just pick something out of thin air, to begin with.  Starting with something that is a passion and you can talk for days about would be your first logical step towards branding yourself and your company.

Other questions you should have answers to are:

  • What am I all about?
  • What’s my passion?
  • What do I want to do that I can talk about all the time?

After you have answered those questions, it’s time to move over to your next step in this process.

Step 2 – Building A Brand

When I started with online marketing, I thought it was going to be a breeze and that it really doesn’t matter if I branded myself or not.  Afterall, that would come out in my videos and my social media post, right?

This is just a half-truth in the world of social media.

What you should do when you’re building a brand for someone or yourself is to go through the questions above and then pick 3-5 people who are authorities in your niche.  Follow them and pick out what they are doing that is working.

These people could be competitors, influencers or people already doing what you want to be like.

That’s what you want!

People will find you and already have a great perception of you and your business.

Think about who your customers are and why they would want to work with you in business. After you figure that out, go get some ideas from other brands on logo's, colors, and taglines. Click To Tweet

Step 3 – The Elements Of Building Your Brand

  • Tagline – This is where you get to tell your customer how you can help them
  • Colors – Figure out the colors you want to use that both you and your customer will align with.  You’ll need to get the hex codes for each color.  Typically there are 3 colors used in a brand.
  • Logo – Can be your name or a graphic representation of you.com
  • Font(s) – This is where you separate yourself from the pack by selecting 1 or 2 fonts that you use in your business.

These are the basic elements to get your brand up and running like a boss!  The tools that I love to use to accomplish the graphics side of branding are, Photoshop CC 2018, Canva, and PicMonkey

As you delve into these elements you’ll want to consider if you want to appeal to male, female, old, young, rich, poor, love to travel, etcetera.

Once you have figured out what your colors are and who you’d like to appeal your brand to fitting. The next step is to get photos done.

Now the question is do you want to get professional photos or are you starting out with a smaller budget and just going to use a friend to take a photo with a camera phone or if you know someone that has a DSLR and is willing to take a few shots of you.

Step 4 – Stepping Into Your Brand

This is where the rubber meets the road and gets very exciting.  You have a business that has declared to the world what you stand for and even more important, what you do not stand for.

The action step here is to start building a following.  Find 3-5 topics that you can talk about such as blogging, branding, marketing, Facebook, Instagram, Social Media.

Once you have built your following to 1,000 on ONE PLATFORM  (social media is not ONE PLATFORM).  You can then find another platform to build a following on.  This is very important because this will help you stay laser focused in your business.  You’ll begin to find things that work on that one platform and things that do not work.

This is how you master your platform and when you have built that following.  Put together a short pdf of what you learned about your first platform that you have mastered.  Your followers will love it and you can build more of a following with that short PDF.

Step 5 – Building Your Brand – Email List

You’ve probably heard it said from many successful marketers and I’ll say it here too!

If I had it to do all over again, I’d start building my email list from the very beginning!

Why would they say this to you from the other side of building a list?

I’m going to take a wild stab in the dark 🙂

They see how much more they have left on the table by not building an email list.  Don’t make the same mistake.  Build your email list now!

Last tip before I close.

BONUS: When you’re out there on social media, provide value but don’t give away the house.  In other words, give them enough to build curiosity.  Then ask for their email address to give the rest of the information.  You’ll find that your email list will start growing faster than you thought and it won’t cost you a dime.

Now, go out and take action.

As I already mentioned, relationships in the world of blogging are built from conversations. Don?t just settle for having people leave comments on your blog then leave it at that.

In order to really build a solid blog community, respond to all comments on your blog, whether you agree with it or not. My Money Making Story

How to start making money online with your own business is what I’m going to talk about but first I want to tell you a story about how I got to this point.

That’s a quote that I saw on someone’s wall recently and it’s so simple yet very profound.

I find that people tend to move so fast in today’s world (especially in the U.S.A) that we forget to stop and smell the roses.

Why is it that way?

The Million Dollar Question

You see when you stop and think about the things that we as American’s do all day long, it can really start to cause stress in life.? There’s the daily job drama that can add to those stresses.? Not to mention the strife that every family goes through at one point or another in their life.

or, maybe you have a spouse that does SO MUCH for you that you just don’t realize it until they get sick, end up in the hospital and then find out there’s no cure for that sickness.

This is what happened to me back in 2010.

I couldn’t believe my eyes.? Here I was battling a kidney stone wondering when and where I’ll get to actually get to get rid of the stone and the feeling of having to go to the bathroom all the time and not knowing if it will actually happen or not.

Making The Best Out Of What You Have

You see I got married early as a late teen and then turned right around and got divorced. I fell into a depression and spun my wheels for several years.

Then, I met my 2nd wife who I thought would be my wife for MANY MANY YEARS.? We had plans to get rich…uh hem…WEALTHY.

You know…? just like most of us do.

But “how” was the question.? She would ask her dad to give me tips on how I could set out to accomplish this too.? Her dad was the model of success that she had access to in life – even when she was sick.

But all he would tell us is to work hard.? Honestly, I don’t think he really knew what to say because of when and where he grew up. He lived in the industrial age – which is no longer the age we live in.

Today, we live in the digital age, which makes complete sense for her dad not to know what to tell us…

Work hard to get good grades so maybe you’ll be accepted into an elite college, where you’ll be lucky enough to work harder to get straight “A’s”.?

Once that’s complete, you’re off to work for an employer that has the complete control of how much you make when you get to take a vacation and how much you take.

This usually speaks to where you take a vacation as well.? Your employer doesn’t want you to go too far away from your post if you’re in management.? To solidify this, they give you a cell phone with email access and a laptop to do work while on vacation.

There had to be more in life than this.

I didn’t sign up for a job as a slave just to have the things that I wanted in life.?

Nor did I sign up to have a wife die early to one of the deadliest diseases known to Americans and probably around the world.

Cancer.

It took only 10 months for her to go from healthy to bedridden and blind, then off to heaven.

It seemed that my dreams and hopes were gone.

But as fate would have it, only 2 years later I would be married to my current wife and have the best time of my life.

It seems that we really do get what we focus on and it doesn?t matter what it is we focus on.?

Positive, negative, indifferent, poor, rich, lack, abundance.

It?s all there for us to grab as much as we want, of whatever we want.

But that?s just a glimpse of what I have learned.

The fact that I found a way to express myself and also have a way to change my financial future is what I call truly blessed.

How did I find this blessing?

Simple.

Before my 2nd wife got sick, she started selling things through home parties.

I liked the products (candles in this case) but didn?t really want to do home parties to make extra money from home.? Besides, how many people sign up to do home parties in the spare time that they already don?t have?

Not me.

I wanted to find a way on how to start making money online with my own business…

So I kept searching.

I went from one company to another and watched friends go to new heights in their business only to see me still struggle.? (sound familiar?!)

I did some investigating and realized I was stuck because of my mindset, and in the beginning, you need a support system at the very least.

So after 5 years of struggle, I found a system that will allow me to achieve my dreams and goals.? This system has over the shoulder training that is presented to you on a daily basis.? Watch and build alongside your coach to 10k per month or more if you desire.

I don?t have to sit on my laptop all day and night after work to get just a small piece of the pie.? We wanted the ability to have multiple pieces of the pie, as well as multiple pies.

Needless to say, my wife and I are very excited for what we have grabbed ahold of and we don?t need to know how to sell?

?because neither of us are the sales type that oozes ‘used car sales employee of the month’.

I’m only in my 2nd month and am already making what I never saw happen in any of my previous companies.

This journey to start making money online with my own business is well worth the travel time.

I’ve found that not only am I getting good at marketing, but my mindset and my awareness of my mindset has increased to the point that there is nothing but success.? My mind literally goes on autopilot to where success lives.

The biggest area that anyone can improve upon is the area of self-improvement.?What isn’t realized in this statement is how powerful you are and that goes for negative influences too.

Your mind is like a computer and will do whatever you tell it to do.? The caveat to that is that you have to put effort into changing how you think in your sub-conscience. (check this link to find out how to stay on track with changing your mindset)

The next step to seeing the success you want in business is to be laser focused.

What does this mean?

Simply put.? Stay consistent with the fundamentals you are being taught.

Keep on track with mindset improvement.

Continually drive more traffic to your business.? Whether it be your blog post from a new blog site you are building or a funnel that drives sales.? It’s how you let the marketplace of your business.

Last and probably the most crucial step to your success is DO NOT GIVE UP AFTER 1 WEEK.? 1 week of failure does not mean you failed.? Press into the skill that you’re building. This is akin to going to the gym and working out because you want a better and stronger body.

Email List Cleaning With GetResponse

There are lots of tasks to do when you are doing email marketing. ?None of them more important than doing email list cleaning. ?Removing inactive email addresses that never open your emails is key to cleaning out your list. So, here’s your quick and simple instruction guide on Cleaning your email list with?GetResponse

For those that want to read through on the subject, here’s your quick guide to email pruning for GetResponse

The first step is to login to your GetResponse account and then head over to the top of the screen and click “Contacts” –> “Search Contacts”

From there you should have a screen that looks similar to the one below.

Now, the next step is to start searching for the contacts that have not opened any of your emails. ?This is done by doing a search on your campaigns (example below)

The only change from the above photo for you is to change the time period. ?I recommend you change it to 30 or 60 days (1 month / 2 months) that way you have a fresh list at all times.

When you’ve got your contacts who are not opening your emails all you do then is click the blue button that says “Show Contacts”.

This will take you to a new screen where you can edit those contacts. (see below)

Email List Cleaning With GetResponse

Select the “Choose all” box at the top, then scroll to the bottom and select “action”, then “Move to Campaign” or Remove from Account / Remove from Campaign.

That is all that it takes to do this manually every 30 days to 60 days. ?Some marketers will say to do this twice a year. However, ?if You are looking to optimize your list for buyers only – get those tire kickers off your list. This will make room for those that are actually interested in your product or service. ?Watch the video on how to do an email list cleaning. ?You’ll want to rinse and repeat this process until GetResponse has an automated way to do this just like the more expensive services have such as Drip.

More than likely you found this post because you have a subscription with GetResponse or you are looking for an autoresponder to use in your business. ?There are a few of them to use and currently I’m using GetResponse and have been using it for almost 5 years. ?There are others you can use such as Aweber, MailChimp, Drip, Infusionsoft, and many others. ?Those are the ones that just came to mind.

IF you are using Aweber or GetResponse, be mindful of the emails you send out.? If you are sending out the same version of every other marketer in your company, you should be shuttering and wondering what to do next.? This post will give you more information on what GetResponse (and most other autoresponders) will do for you and how to play inside of their rules to get the most out of their service.

Both GetResponse and Aweber are probably the most popular autoresponders out in the marketplace. ?So the only precaution that I think you need to be aware of is that due to its popularity. You’ll need to be extra careful about spamming. ?That means you need to be providing value based content in your emails. ?Also, there’s some great tips and strategies that i share with my team to help you get better deliverability.

So, if you’re not cleaning your list (segmenting), you’re doing yourself a disservice and ruining your sending reputation. ?Email List Cleaning With GetResponse is imperative. In fact, list cleaning is imperative in any Autoresponder service. ?People just don’t open your emails all the time.

So as we are still not living in a perfect world.? We can prepare for those that just are not interested in your content.? Even though it’s the best on the planet. :0

To do this, you’ll need to create a workflow that will get run every day, week, or month.? It all depends on your marketing.? However, you should be cleaning out emails that do not interact with you for 60 days.

I have since switched over to a new Autoresponder called Drip.? They designed their service to fill in the gaps that were not there in other services.? I love that I can get automation, access to all the feature rich service.? You can get started for FREE until you go over 100 contacts.? After you reach that level, it’s just $49/month or you can get a discount by paying yearly.

GetResponse will not confirm or deny if you’re in that group because they want to keep you on a subscription.? Don’t get me wrong, GetResponse is a great service, and I know many of my mentors that still use GetResponse to pull in huge incomes via email.

In a perfect world, your emails would get read all the time, and you’d be providing riveting information all the time as well. ?That’s just not the case.

The subject today is brand marketing.  This is what I’m going to address and how you do it as a new or advanced business owner. This applies to all small and large business owners alike in the internet marketing space.

…even if you’re new to the entrepreneurial space, this works for you too!

Most new business owners have a perception that they join up on a business with their sponsor and they can ride the wave that their sponsor has created.  Some of that is true but you have to create your brand and know what you stand for in business.  It’s the same in businesses you see in your city too.

Target has their way of selling that is different from Walmart or Kmart. It’s their brand that sells people (and location)

So while you may not be a brick and mortar store, setting up shop the proper way is most imperative!

Setting Your Brand Marketing Up

The first thing you need to start doing as a new business owner is

Provide Value This means actually searching places out on the internet and taking notes, and then sharing it via a blog, video, or both on all of your social media outlets.Get focused on who you’re serving and give them what they are searching for.  Be consistent because you are their answer to the issues they are having.  If you aren’t consistent, you’ll likely miss them on the day they need you most.  This is where the sales come from.Providing value on a daily, weekly basis is what you should start your focus on right out of the gate.  I’d say a good rule of thumb is to be posting on social media multiple times a day and doing a video at least once a week to multiple times a week.
  2. Encouragement It’s always the positive person that reaps positive actions.  I’ve always seen the positive person show up again and again. They never quit doing good, which in turn, pays them VERY WELL. This one skill will keep your business and personal life full of blessing – and not just for you as you speak life into others.Realize that the world we live in right now is one of turmoil and when we leave work for the day, people do not want to sit and listen to you complain and berate on social media.  Do you ever hang out on a post that is negative?  Most of the time, you’re looking for a reason to laugh, gain knowledge, or to be encouraged.
  3. Problem Solving One of the first questions I had when I started as a business owner online, was where do I find these problems?  I’ve been a problem solver for well over 20 years and they usually just put a ticket in and I go fix their problem.  (This is the mindset of an Information Technology employee).  So in order to start looking for problems to solve, you have to know where to find them. The first place to look is in Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+ groups.  You can start a twitter feed using lists to find problems to solve as well.  These are just a couple of the many you can use to find problems to solve. The best problems are the ones you find with people you already know.
