Hey this is Jon. And today we’re going to talk a little bit about e-mail. In fact, what we are going to do in this post is learn more about how does drip compare to other email marketing systems!

Now, the e-mail automation that I’m using or that I’m going to do a review on the drip e-mail marketing review that I’m going to do, Is called drip. Obviously, because it’s a really good way to do your marketing.

Marketing is also when you are dripping on people. You know there’s a metaphor there. So, they called themselves Drip and they’re also the same people that own Leadpages (at the time of this recording). So, if they do great in Leadpages and they give you the sales tools why wouldn’t they help you further in the process and help you in your email.

Before I get started though I encourage you to subscribe to my channel.

I do a video every single week and we’re going to start out doing some drip e-mails and going through how to use drip and what scenarios are best for certain people and really dig down deep on what kind of things you can do with Drip. Also how to use their liquid programming language.

Customer Service

Drip has the best customer service and it’s as fast as a click down at the bottom right hand part of your screen. You may be seeing a trend of companies going away from the phone method of doing customer service. That’s all by design due to the cost of manning phones. They certainly are doing an amazing job with their offering of email or chat. Usually if i need to get in touch with someone asap, I can check to see if they are on line at the moment. if not, I’ll use the email option which is responded to the next day or as soon as they receive the email.

How Does Drip Compare to Other Email Marketing Systems?

Drip is a forerunner to all the other email marketing systems because it gives us the ability to run campaigns with ease. these campaigns can be made to segment your list so that you are not spending unnecessary money on people that do not respond to your emails.

Sure there are other systems that offer the same segmentation but when it comes to ease of use, I believe that Drip will make your digital email marketing much easier. Take, for instance, Automation.

Their automation in my opinion is awesome because you set it up one time and it goes. I’ve learned so much from using the customer service help as well.

Automation is the key to your marketing. if you are marketing well, you know there’s no stress involved when you’ve got your automation running. Drip automation involves workflows, campaigns, triggers, and tags. These are the tools you have to help you deliver the right message at the right time.

There’s so many things you can do with Drip. Automation is where it’s at in today’s marketplace.

There are more and more going towards the ECRM (Electronic Customer Relationship Manager) way of doing things. So the next thing you really want to have in place, and this is huge, is deliverability.

That is another key point in drip because they are 99.9% deliverable and as long as you stay in the value group, you’re going to be at 99.9 percent. This will definitely help you stay relevant in your niche. So when it comes to knowing how does drip compare to other email marketing systems, the feeling is a great one even an hour, day, week, month, year in.

ONE CAVEAT TO DELIVERABILITY

You know it’s only the user that’s going to say things like

“I don’t really want to receive emails from you”
“I don’t really want to see this anymore and now I’ll put you in the spam folder.”
“I get too much email already and don’t have time to read your email.

you just cannot get around people like that because we all have lives to live. It might mean you’re creating too much noise in their world? This is why you should always send an email asking them about their situation. Provide them a way to bundle your communications with them. Drip does this really well by the way.

How Drip Handles Spammers

I learned this ten years ago when I was spamming a lot of people. When you’re new, you don’t know any different. I had emails that I wanted to get out to my people that were on my list and they weren’t getting them or they were going to the spam/junk folder.

That’s just as bad as not sending an email, right?

I think back then I was at .2 percent that were actually getting the emails and I later found out that this particular platform labeled me as a spammer and they put me in a IP range that didn’t send out that well. So you have to be giving great value and always doing someone that is known for giving value. If you need a little help from a seasoned pro that travels all over, Gary Vaynerchuk is that guy. He’s a bit in your face but maybe that’s what you need to get off your butt to do something. I highly recommend his book that was written several years ago because it’s still relevant: The book is called, “Jab Jab Jab Right Hook“.

The ease of use is the next on the list. It’s based on a great method of graphical presentation so you can understand what and where things are. You’ve got people instead of subscribers. It’s more personable but you’re going to have so many things presented in front of you when you first log in.

Lastly I would like to point out that the price of drip for a 0-500 subscribers (people) is $19.

Now I have to admit, at the time of this recording the price was $49 and it wasn’t cheapest because there are other ones out there that were much cheaper. I think when I started it was 12 dollars a month with a different provider, and went up to 15 for others and eventually other ones that start at $30. As far as price, I’ve seen some that I go up to $300 a month. They also have many more things that they can offer and personally I don’t want them handling all of my marketing because if one thing goes down it can wreak havoc on all of your marketing. Simply put, you want to have items of your marketing in different locations.

My Thoughts On Using Drip vs Other Email Marketing Systems

Now this review is slightly biased but not because Drip is sponsoring me. I would only get a commission when you decide to continue past the 14 day trial period, or just purchase a monthly or yearly subscription. it is my sincere hope that you take the 14 day trial after reading or watching my drip email marketing review.

The others email marketing systems I ‘ve used seem to be out of their league when trying to match what Drip has to offer. The original email systems have been in the business a long time and I would have thought that they would be jumping on the changes in the industry trying to make it easier to market businesses that are using their service.

The only system that I found that is close to Drip is ConvertKit. The ideas they have work well because of the programming language they use. This language is the exact same one as Drip. So, of course, it makes sense how well they match up to Drip.

The others email marketing systems are tough to compare even though they are in the email marketing system niche. So in future blogs and videos, I’ll be doing comparisons of each system that is after your hard earned money.

How To Add Opt In Forms To WordPress

In today’s vastly improving technology we have so much at the tips of our hands. We have email opt in forms that seem like they just appear without doing any real work. So in this post, I’m going to help you get your email opt in forms added so that you can begin collecting emails from your WordPress blog.

I know that this is just one topic on using Drip, and you can go through the entire series, and become a master at drip

Types of Forms

When adding forms to a WordPress blog, you have a choice of whether you want to have a pop up form, embedded form, or in the case with Drip, a slide out form. This will work with WordPress as well. However, if you choose the free plan, it may be more difficult to integrate Drip into the free blogs.

The email provider we will be using today is Drip. This is mainly because that’s who I’m using for emails these days.

…and I absolutely love them!

Here’s how simple it is to add opt in forms to WordPress using Drip.

at the onset, you are telling drip you would like to add a form to your blog. That part is quite simple.

You’ll get a pop up similar to what is pictured above. I’ve gone ahead and typed in the name ‘Test form’ as well as added a tag for those that submit the form. In this case, I’ve added “Blog_visit” as the tag.

In real world situations, you’d probably place a tag describing the form purpose, such as “Best PDF download for my program”.

Next, you’ll need to decide what is the form type that you want to add to your WordPress blog?

In this example, you see that the popup form is selected. However that is not the only choice.

Exit -Intent Popup Form
Side Tab Form (slide in)
Embedded HTML Form (visuals have vastly improved)

after making the selection of which form you what to add to your blog, simply click the create form button.

Subsequently, you will see a screen that looks like the photo above. This is where you will customize the look and feel of the form.

You’ll start off by choosing the fields you would like to collect from your soon to be subscriber.

After you have customized this, move on to the design portion of the form.

Designing Your Form

As you can see, this process is literally holding you to each step and helping you design the form by using colors, font sizes on the Style tab. Then on the text tab you are able to choose a title for the Form as well as a description.

Lastly, as you can see you are able to choose an image which Drip suggests that it be at least 300px wide. In my photos, I aim to upload an image that is (300px wide by 450px tall) so that it fills up the area that is meant for the image.

Choosing When The Form Pops Up

The next part of creating this form is to tell Drip what the behavior of the form will be. As you can see there’s a time delay, after scrolling to a certain point in the blog, or on the click of a link or button or via the JS API.

Lastly, you’ll need to tell Drip how to proceed once the form is submitted. It’s as simple as that to insert a form to a WordPress blog. This can be done on each blog page or assigned to a certain tag that you create on your blog, The sky is really the limit here on how to apply each form.

so when it comes to doing reviews, I tend to go into the informational part of the review so that you can see how things work and get an idea of where I’m coming from when doing the review.

The first thing that I would like to point out about Drip is Automation. This is what really got me sold in the beginning. I used to be with other email systems that said the automation was superior but when I attempted to apply my marketing to it. I was always going up against workflows not working. I’m hoping that they got their act together (they are still in business).

What Exactly Do You Use In Automation?

Automation is run by workflows. In almost all cases, you’re going to see the use of triggers, tags, goals, lead scores and conversions. This is across the board in email marketing.

However, you will see this presented to the user in a way that makes sense and is easy to use. I’ll be doing videos about this in future posts so that you can get a really good grasp on this for your marketing.

Triggers are a new technology within email marketing and Leadpages and Drip have this in place. What is it?

Triggers That Automate

If you’re new to email marketing, you might be wondering what triggers are and what they do.

In short you are going to love them because they will do more automation for you on different platforms such as your blog.

Triggers are converted links that allow you to place the link anywhere (social media, your blog, or drip account). These converted links will act just as if you were sending an email and the subscriber clicked the link.

One caveat: you have to have a cross-domain tracking setup.

Now, I mentioned in the video that Leadpages and Drip were both the same company. That is no longer true as Leadpages has split off from Drip. My guess is that there will be many more great things happening to Drip now that they have split off from each other. Time will tell and yes, I will do a video on these new things that come out.

The Downside of Drip

Some of the liquid is the programming language and it is a bit more advanced and needs to have someone who has dealt with this to handle any of this implementation.

Drip Forms For Your Website

The other thing that I didn’t like at all with Drip was the form integration with your blog. The design was flat-out ugly. Of course, you can do some CSS to spruce it up to match your brand but I’m guessing not many bloggers know how to do CSS because they blog, not code or do graphic design.

As of this writing, there are some slight improvements in the embedded form (see above – and subscribe).

If you’re looking for a knock your socks off sort of form, you’re not going to get it (yet – crossing my fingers) from Drip. The forms were a point of contention for me because ConvertKit was much better at doing this for bloggers.

Drip Pricing

The other item I wasn’t excited about was the price. the lowest was set at $49/month. Now that has changed (after the recording of this video on youtube)

Now the prices are much different and start out with better package deals.

This price goes up to $29 and stays there until you reach 2501 subscribers, which THEN it’s a $49/month investment.

If you want a really good email marketing system and don’t want to pay the price of the ultra-expensive, you will be absolutely happy with DRIP.

The integrations that you have access to with Drip is mind-boggling. If you have your own courses to sell and you want to put them into a place such as WooCommerce (which integrates with WordPress seamlessly) you can run automation with this plug into your blog with just a few clicks.

Another feature I absolutely love is that in my workflows, I can automatically build my Facebook custom audience by either adding to or removing subscribers.

As you can see on the list to the left, there are many more topics to peruse of integrations.

Blogging is a big income producer for many people. Throughout the past several years, there are fewer people creating blogs because they realize that it’s a business and it requires that you be consistent.

Writing blogs for Google, Bing & Yahoo are great for SEO, but let’s not forget your target market and relating to them!

I’ve heard too many times that SEO is not something I want to do. I’d rather just write my story and add photos / video then publish.

The biggest reason a blog starts to get ranked is simply that they are providing Google, Bing, and Yahoo with content.

It’s not just the content that these search engines see, but rather the continuous submissions on a daily or even multiple times per day.

Of course, these posts need to be of high quality or you’re going to see your rankings drop. So if you’re a blogger and want to start seeing results on your search engines by way of 1st-page rankings, then you need to be a performer of great content on a regular basis.

I mentioned that some bloggers are doing daily posts, but understandably, most professionals cannot handle this type of schedule. So if you are able to post just one blog per week or every 2 weeks, that’s great!

Just keep on your schedule and do your SEO so that you can be found.

2. Better Search Engine Rankings From Telling Stories

Have you ever read a blog that was dry or just told you a bunch of facts that you really didn’t know what they had to do with you or your search to answer your issue?

Usually, blogs that give you facts are the ones that are more technically oriented and don’t have to tell stories because they have built-in traffic (techies searching how to solve a problem).

The problem with that is that techies are not necessarily the type of genre that you would want to blog for because when they are looking for answers they aren’t looking for anything to buy – just information.

Most of the time, they are also working but not always.

3. Proper SEO For More Traffic

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.

This could be one of the best ways to create a passive income using your blog. SEO doesn’t have to be too intensive but it does need to exist in order for your blog to be found.

What do I mean by “it needs to exist”?

Simple.

You need to have a plan of attack and know what you are talking about and it needs to be narrowed down to something as detailed as “purple frogs living in lakes in Hawaii” to get your page ranked. This is called Long-tail keywords, and I’ll get into this in a different blog post (big topic to cover)

You’ll also want to include your keyword in your blog post, photos, URL, and title. All of these need to be at a ratio of about 1-2 words per 100 words in your post.

Now if you are brand new to the blogging world, you may need to also get setup with an email list system.

I’m currently using Drip which I highly recommend you use. It’s basic enough for beginners yet can be expanded greatly if and when you’d like to do that.

4. Image Spacing to Aide Readability

Using WordPress is a great way to get your blog started in the right direction. However, there are a few things that are not quite right about the total package.

One of these is the default spacing for pictures. If you’re like me, and most other bloggers, you know that having the proper amount of padding between the image and your text is great for both eye appeal and readability.

Both of these are essential for readers to be able to decipher your content in a quick and orderly fashion. The best practice to get your images spaced out properly is to check the code. The proper syntax for an image to show up in a blog post is as follows:

*style=”padding-right: 10px; padding-bottom: 10px; <a href=”http://myblogphotos.com/photogallery”>

There is another part of this text version to putting an image in. The key here is to place the bold text into the statement for your image. ?However, placement is also key, but if you’re not sure, place it at the beginning after the?<a ?so that the web page will know right away, you want?to pad around the image.

5. Spreading the Word About Your Blog

Google pays attention to how well your content is liked and viewed. That being said, you are getting your blog post judged by how many views it gets as well as how many share it to their influence on social media.

A post with the same word length, keyword, and the above-mentioned items will outrank the other post that has identical traits if there are more views and shares.

Shares are akin to backlinks. Backlinks are definitely viewed as a good thing – but don’t go haywire with buying backlinks. Some backlinks will actually hurt your ranking.

For picture-based learning, this is the administrative area of your WordPress site. This is also referred to as the dashboard.

You’ll have the option to access the settings, properties and determine how you want your posts to look.

You’ll have the option of other things like

Whether or not you want to allow people to post comments.

Write Pages or Posts.
Ability to set up individual pages.

You don’t need to (and shouldn’t) set up a separate page for each post. A page is more static.

Here are some tips that are useful for WordPress optimization and better performance. It will reduce the CPU burden that WordPress puts on the server.

1 – Upgrade to the latest WordPress version.

Yes, you’re probably reluctant to upgrade if it?s already working but note that every WordPress update always contains bug fixes and improvements so there is no reason not to upgrade.

Sooner than later, you will need to upgrade to blocks (Gutenberg). This should be a priority in your quest for WordPress optimization!

On the other hand, if you just don’t have the time to do this, Use a host that will do this automatically for you.

2 – Remove unnecessary plugins

I know the plug-ins are nice but are you sure you really need those plug-ins? If you don?t need them, just delete the unneeded plugin. It’s taking up processing power on your webhost. This is what could be slowing up your website. You can always install it later if you need it.O

3 – Activate Plugins That Are Needed

For example, you don?t need to activate a Theme previewing plug-in if you are not planning to change a theme. You don?t need to activate a WordPress database backup plug-in if you are not auto scheduling a backup, and so on.

4 – Install “WP-Super-Cache”

If you’re really looking to improve your speed gains, then this is one that is paramount to increasing your website speed

It is clear that the wp super cache has great WordPress optimization while having the lowest overall resource hit on the server. It should always be using the least amount of memory and CPU time that it possibly can.

5 – Reduce PHP/Database Calls

Most CPU usage is caused by the number PHP and database calls. Using WP-Super-Cache helps this tremendously but sometimes it can?t be helped that your blog still has to do some PHP/Database calls. If you can reduce it though, do it. For example, if a plug-in allows you to set an option whether to write a log or not (like the number of spam comments caught, etc), then disable it. This will reduce the number of database insertion/update calls. As a technician on computer systems, I?ve found more wasted CPU processes spent on things that are not used. This one item will get WordPress optimization on the way quicker than anything I?ve said so far.

6 – Reduce the number of Widgets and other components

Although putting a weather widget or other widgets are cool, do you really need them? Besides cluttering your blog and turning visitors off it can also put a strain on the server.

7 – Repair and Optimize

Your database gets updated several times a day, whether you?ve posted or not. There?s a lot of chance for errors there. The process can be completed through the cPanel.

Under the Databases section, click on PHPMyAdmin ?>> Select (your WordPress database).

Notice the table that appears. This contains all your posts, categories, comments, blogroll links, users, etc.

Scroll to the bottom. Click on Check All.

To the right of Check All you?ll find a drop down.

Choose ‘Repair’

Repeat the process and choose Optimize from the menu. (Note that you really only need to do this if you have a lot of overhead in your tables. Check it often.)

8 – Close Any Post Writing Pages When You?re Not Using Them

WordPress will Auto-Save and it uses server resources and builds up CPU usage. It’s a rather simple task to do but it does close out another process that wordpress is not having to save and update.

9 – Turn Off The Formatting Options in Settings

In WordPress, under Settings->Writing uncheck both Formatting options. Especially turn off ?WordPress should correct invalid nested X-HTML automatically?.

10 – Don?t Post Via eMail/Word

Write your posts in the default wordpress writing interface. If you’re not done writing copy/paste it into Word.

There are plugin’s that help with getting rid of the garbage that word produces when copying and pasting to other apps or in this case, your blog. Just know that your MS Word doc is not the same when pasting to your blog.

11 – Use Summaries in Feeds.

Under Settings->Reading, select use Summaries in Feeds.

12 – Turn Off Any eMail Notifications You Don?t Need

especially redundant ones. If you go to your blog often, don?t worry about having it e-mail you for comments. Just turn that off. This can be found Under Settings-Discussion

13 – Reduce File Sizes

Use Photoshop, Gimp etc to reduce the image size, and if you are uploading a video, make the file size as small as possible for faster downloading on a slower network connection. This is another big item to accomplish in your WordPress optimization.

14 – Rename Backup Files

The file wp-cron.php should be renamed to wp-cron.php.bak. This is a good one to do but not as important to do for your WordPress optimization.

15 – Switch To A Simpler Theme

If you?ve done all the optimizations above, you may need to switch to a simpler theme. There are many themes out there each one is programmed/designed differently by different developers. Do you research on each theme to see how fast they load? It may be just that one extra second that keeps your visitor on your page reading!

I’ve found that many people will agree with the statements I made above and then dismiss them because they don’t see them making any difference in their lives. However, if you take a step back and look at how you treat your time, you’ll quickly understand how much time is wasted at the TV or browsing social media. It literally only takes an hour per day of action towards your goal. Hopefully, it’s a goal that will cause you to be more profitable!

Take a look at your life. Make the necessary adjustments such as cutting your social media time down. Start by decreasing your browsing time and doing business-oriented tasks that will set you financially free. You will also need to get a blog set up so that you have a home on the internet.

So just by narrowing down time, you’ll see the answer to your question of “when is the perfect time to build a business?”

There are businesses that require you to do certain things to be successful. One of those things is to show up consistently.? I know for me, it’s a huge plus to be able to have lots of downtime.? I love being able to set things up the first time, put the work in and let my content do all the work on social media and my blog.

Of course, you aren’t required to do anything. But if you want success to find you sooner than later – I highly suggest finding someone with know-how.

What To Look For In A Mentor

Find someone who is established in the online arena or the arena you’ll be participating. This should mean that they are doing great already with their online business.
Look for someone who you like to be around and has a heart for helping people. NOTE: The more successful, the less time they have. Be very cognizant of this when approaching with questions or asking for their time.
A good knowledge of computers and the I/T field isn’t required for MOST home businesses. Your mentor should be able to show you the basics to get you going if you’re feeling like a novice.
Guidance is key to having success out of the gate. This is shown in many different ways by mentors. Some will do videos on topics that are asked quite often. others that are having success but still small will give individual attention.

It really matters who your mentor is and if you don’t have one, you can expect to add at least 12-36 months of extra labor from trial and error.

WordPress Blog Backup Guide To Avoid Disaster

One thing that I always am looking to do is to back up my work, and Cpanel Back up is a very good tool to do this and it’s FREE. ?Heaven knows that when you work so hard on a project and especially all those blogs, you want to know that they are kept and in a safe place. ?That’s the reason I created this WordPress blog back up guide. It will keep your blog or website safe from ultimate disaster.

The first step is – like in anything the step that decides if you’re going to be successful or not. ?This is because you are going to be doing some planning.

I know…

Planning is a bad word in some circles. ?However, if you want success you need to know a few things when it comes to performing your blog?back up.

Step 1 – Planning Your WordPress Blog?Back Up

Decide what you want your WordPress blog back up to encompass and then plan where you want to store this backup.

If you’re going to store it online for instance, in a place like Dropbox, Box, or iCloud. Perhaps you thought about storing it locally on one of your hard drives.

NOTE: ?There is a risk as with all backup solutions. Storing things at home is close to the worst solution though.? But if it’s all you have. Do it.? No solution is FAR WORSE than backing up on a hard drive at home.

Step 2 – Setup

Now that you have your plan on where you are going to put your WordPress Blog?backup, it is now time to start that plan. ?Now, if you haven’t done so yet, go ahead and login to your Cpanel. ?You will then search for the area that looks similar to a section like this:

Select the Backup Wizard.

After clicking on the backup wizard icon – for me, it’s under the “Files” tab – you will be prompted with “Do you want a full or partial backup done”. ?This is where you are going to refer to your plan and tell it to do what you planned to do.

For the sake of this post, I will just go through the full backup with local storage. (select full backup).

While doing this you want to make sure that everything is working properly on your website, so that in the event that you are in a position to restore your website/blog, you will have a working version of your blog.

If you are running a mac, you could even run apple script to do this for you on a weekly basis or monthly basis. ?This all depends on the frequency you post blogs. ?However, when you run a business on the internet, one of the first rules is to be consistent with your blog posts – and that means a daily basis if you want to start ranking and getting better at blogging.

Step 3 – Time to Start Your Backup

Select Home Directory.

this will backup your website to a directory on your server (which is your website), and when it’s complete you will receive an email at the address you list on the same form when everything is complete.

Step 4 – Download Your Blog?Backup?

You can now?download your WordPress blog back up to your hard drive for safekeeping. ?This will be the second location aside from your hosting services that will save your backup.

I have been very anti-Pinterest up until about January of 2018.? I never saw a really good reason for engaging on this social network.? Pinterest is, from what I’ve read and observed, a huge source of traffic.? But not all traffic is equal.? You want to have targeted traffic.

Pinterest For Blogging Tips

Typically, there are months that are high in traffic for those in the northern hemisphere.? It’s all about where people are located during these time frames.? Those in the southern hemisphere are either outdoors in the sun or inside due to rain and wind.? If you’re in the northern hemisphere, you know that during this time we are typically inside braving the winter weather.

This has typically influenced when people are on a computer.? However, since Pinterest is also a mobile app, the weather isn’t so much of a factor of when people are on the internet and using the Pinterest Application.

So, Pinterest Traffic is garnered by a few different methods.

Directly from the board where the pin is located.
- This will give you the option to visit the website that posted the pin.
From a different Pinterest user that shared the pin on his/her board(s) because it was a quality pin that deserved to be re-pinned.

You can see from those 2 methods, how it can spiral throughout Pinterest and then you’ll start to see traffic from efforts you did yesterday, last week, month and even last year.

What’s The Best Strategy To Use With Pinterest Board Pinning?

As I entered into the Pinterest?world, I began to read blog posts about how to pin and gain more readership on my blog.? It felt like a huge task to learn but I did my research when I could and also took action on what I did know at the time until I learned something new.

Something I learned at the beginning of my entrepreneurial ventures is that knowledge without action is useless.

So here’s one thing that seems to be a pattern in my research so far.

Using a system to do the posting for you at specific times is a must.
- I like to use a couple of these automation systems.
  - Tailwind?- this app will give you access tribes.? I like this app because of how it does scheduling for pins.? You’ll want to schedule pins from other boards as well as yours.? This shows your leadership and provides a sense that you’re looking out for your followers best interests.
  - Board Booster – I use Board boosted to do a few other tasks with automation.? Being a techie, I love automation but realize the power of personal engagement.
    - Cycling pins by removing them and then reposting.? There are options to tell which pins can be removed based on how many shares, or how popular the pin is on Pinterest.
    - Campaigns, Looping, Scheduler, Tribes.? These are the options you have when you’re a paying customer.? I believe you get a trial using the scheduler.
    - Maintenance is going to include:
      - Pin Doctor will test any of your boards for things like missing links, to broken links and even suspicious websites.
      - Pin Mover does exactly what it says it does.? Moves pins from one board to another.
      - Group Manager –?Group Manager is a tool for owners of Collaborative Boards. It monitors all pins added by your contributors and identifies your best contributors as well as any contributors that don’t follow the rules of your group board.
Posting manually has been a huge lift to traffic for some blogs.
- I have not done much in the manual posting but some blogs I follow have seen a huge jump in traffic using this method.? Carly from MommyOnPurpose.com has done very well by posting manually.

One of several bloggers I like following is Michelle at NerdyOrganized because she knows the nerdy stuff like SEO and Keywords and…. well go over and check her blog out.

One of the biggest lessons that I learned when I started getting deeper into Pinterest was the importance of having a list of groups that you are a part of.? This will allow you to spread your blog pins around the Pinterest community.

I started out by going to Tailwind and did what I thought was the easy step on the right foot.? But there’s more than just one step to Tailwind.? It’s all about getting aligned to a few groups on the Tailwind platform and then also adding yourself to a bunch of groups that you find on the Pinterest site itself.? Don’t worry, they will all import to Tailwind or BoardBooster.

This is what is listed on my iPhone 8 Plus. Depending on your model of iPhone, you may have more or less of these options. My default is set at 1080p @ 30 frames per second.

For those that have not delved into the video creation world, you will start seeing more references to “FPS” and of course the 720p, 1080p, 4k, 5k references.

To help you make a decision on which to choose, start by deciding where you’re going to show your video.

Is it just on your phone or on a flat screen?
Is the flat screen going to have 4k or 5k capability?
Are you planning your video for social media?
What social media outlet are you planning your video for? YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, LinkedIn?

All these questions need to be answered for you to make the best choice when deciding which setting to choose for your default.

Normally, when you are making a video from the iPhone, you have to click on the photo button to start the recording. How I Learned What Not To Do

First, I would like to give you a little background as to where I started my journey in the online world.

As a new business owner, I was told to do things offline. By that I mean, go out to your friends and family. Tell them exactly what you are doing and see if they have any interest in coming to a home party.

At the time, I was promoting a company that was in the health industry and had a focus on protein shakes. They are no longer in business as of this writing.

So as an entrepreneur, I found that it was not as easy as getting 3 to get 3 and so on.

It’s more along the lines of getting 100 to get 10 maybe’s and then 1 or 2 will say yes. (These are the industry standards)

Let’s dig into this a bit.

I knew that what I wanted was out there but I didn’t know how to get leads.

Online was foreign to me and offline was an unknown that I was very hesitant to step into.

I needed to know how to do advertising. What I did know was that what I was doing wasn’t working. So I made the jump into a company that directly promoted blogging.

Blogging was all the rage (and it still is). Start your own blog the right way because it’s twice the work to fix it all when you don’t start off right. I’ve been in the I/T world for over 20 years now and I show you in the simplest terms how to get started making money with a blog.

That blogging company was awesome because it showed me that there is a way to get leads using a blog. Something I knew nothing about at the time. I always thought that blogging was for big companies.

It’s not.

The idea behind blogging is to get traffic to your blog. Your blog will have reviews, affiliate links, and products that you or someone has created. Write reviews about these affiliate links and promote the products that you create. These are just a few things you can sell on your blog.

What To Do After You Have Leads

The struggle seems to be for new entrepreneurs to market to those who sign up on their lists. These lists are mostly handled by the company autoresponder because having a system of their own to send emails to is a bit foreign.

Hopefully, this isn’t the case anymore.

When I started using an autoresponder, I started with GetResponse. They have a pretty good email marketing system. If you’re just starting out, I would recommend this system to you. However, if you have any sort of list and want to add some automation to your list, then I would definitely suggest you start out with Drip by the makers of Leadpages.

Like I said, I started out with GetResponse and was doing fairly well. I still had a steep learning curve though. My email list wasn’t as responsive as those leaders I was following and I didn’t know why.

So, as I did more research. I realized that I was put on an IP address that didn’t deliver emails to most of my list. This was probably due to the newbie in me trusting the leaders. I would send out email after email that they called swipes.

Now, if I send those out, I edit them to be more my style rather than verbatim.

Email Marketing Systems Are The Wave Of The Future

Actually, the wave of the future is here right now!

It would be my suggestion to start using a marketing system to do your email autoresponder, capture page, and automation. The reason for this is simple.

You want to know when a subscriber buys your product, right? You’ll also want to know that they were automatically moved from one list to another because of their actions.

Why Drip Is The Best Email Marketing System

I started out on a great autoresponder that morphed into a marketing system. However, I love what Drip does in offering everything that is important to an email marketing system. The story goes like this from the founders of Drip.

In a nutshell, they were using active campaign. They found it to be the best of what they wanted in an email marketing system but it was never EVERYTHING.

So they decided to build a system that encapsulated what they envisioned in an email marketing system.

Drip Email Features

What I found with Drip is an advanced software system that you can use without the advanced price point. They are very comparable to the pricing that you would get with a system like Aweber (just released their version of automation) or GetResponse.

However, the drip email marketing system has a price point of FREE if you never go over 100 contacts. Both Aweber and GetResponse have a 30 day trial period which at that point is basically a charge of $29.99.

Drip also gives you all the tools right up front with the free program so that you can begin to integrate your marketing while you’re building your list up. I found this to be a very low-pressure method to inviting you in to try the product. Which I believe is superior to most other email marketing systems.

One key component with Drip is that they allow affiliate marketing to be done with their system. However, I would say that if you’re marketing affiliate MLM’s they will shut you down with a warning. I have not seen this personally but I know what their stance is on this matter. It’s all to protect their amazing deliverability rates.

Workflow Automation

As with GetResponse, you will have the workflow automation feature. Something that GetResponse does is charge you to use the full ability of workflows. Like I have stated already, Drip gives you full ability to use all features right from the start using your FREE account.

This graphic is pulled from each perspective website. If you want to try drip out and ease into this product without having to feel rushed by a 30-day time limit, you can do so with Drip. However, if you prefer to pay the $49/month right from the start, you will most likely choose GetResponse or Aweber.

Aweber pricing is very comparable and perhaps a few dollars cheaper per month. However, Aweber just published their version of what GetResponse and Drip are already doing with their email marketing system

I do like GetResponse, but Drip is definitely hands over feet better because you are literally able to customize much more. For instance, you can track visitors on your blog and where they are clicking (yes, you can do this on Google Analytics too).

Isn’t that what we want in a system like drip? Customization and tracking.

That’s the only way we know what people are doing on our websites. This allows us to improve each and every day, week, or month depending on when you do your reviews of your website(s).

No, we aren’t talking about any of those types of tags, triggers, or goals. What we are talking about matters of your email marketing system. It’s what pulls your customers through the workflow you’ve set up for them.

My first experience was with GetResponse. I was able to be a beta tester and had full access to the system for a brief period of time. Then figured out that I wasn’t getting the deliverability with Getresponse due to them tagging me as a mailer that pitched all the time.
The brief story on that is basically me starting out as a newbie marketer starting out with my first autoresponder. Having no clue as to what to send and not knowing at the time each pitching email would be hurting my sender rating. This is something that they will not tell you about but it definitely exists.

Having experienced what GetResponse offers with their new marketing system, I know that using tags in their system requires you to upgrade to the next level up from their email level. I was using the entry-level (email) and did not upgrade to the “Pro” level mostly because I was not getting good deliverability of my emails.

Goals Make Automation Work

If you know much about triggers, you know that you can do a bunch with them and the sky is the limit in what you use them for. There is a slight variation that I have not ventured into yet and this variation is called Goals.

Here’s what Drip describes goals as:

Goals are a powerful workflow tool that will help you take your automation to the next level.
A goal is a step in a workflow?that when achieved?removes the subscriber from any step directly above it.

Goals are what you need to make automation work. If you know me at all, you should know that I love to automate what I can without losing out on the human interaction.

So an example goal would be a purchase of one of your products. The goal would pull your subscriber out of any delay or email campaign and into the stage where the goal resides in the workflow.

Integrations

I know that I won’t use all these integrations that Drip has available but it’s good to see that they have close to 100 third-party integrations ready to go for you to add triggers, goals, workflows to in your email marketing.

Things like Facebook ads, Clickfunnels, and of course Leadpages are all part of this amazing email marketing system.

You will be able to integrate a CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) so you’ll have the complete system setup within Drip.

Currently, these 3rd party CRM’s are integrated into Drip.

I’ve worked for large and small companies in the IT field and know how valuable it is for CRM’s to be used to keep your contacts details all in one spot.

Salesforce is one of the big players in the CRM marketplace. For entrepreneurs that are starting out, you may want to consider using something like Insightly.

Insightly is a great choice and most getting started are on a tight budget. This is a big reason that drew my attention to them as a CRM provider.

15 Lessons I Learned Using Drip Email Marketing

Deliverability Matters

In every email marketing system, the biggest and most visible stat is deliverability. I have been with a few of these companies that say they deliver at a very high rate. However, that is not true if you get put into their group that does not deliver. So without further delay, here are the lessons I learned by using drip email marketing.

The very stat that everyone works so hard to accomplish and pay for is the very stat that these companies have control over. So if you send a lot of emails that are pitching and no value, you’re going to get spam complaints.

Now obviously, if you know that the rule for marketing is about every 5th email you can and should pitch then you will have great results with your email marketing system. Whether it’s GetResponse, MailChimp, Aweber, Sendlane, Constant Contact, Active Campaign, Drip, or Convert Kit. They all are great at deliverability. However, this is where the similarity begins to change.

Unsubscribes Are Normal

If you’re sending emails, you should know that you WILL get people to unsubscribe from your email list.

It’s natural and to be expected.

I know marketing specialists that average a couple hundred per day to unsubscribe. However in the grand scheme of things that is just drops compared to the flood that they are receiving. Make it your goal to have a list so big that you can average a couple hundred unsubscribes and not really make you flinch at all.

Test Before Sending Emails

One feature that I have been using as much as possible is the ability to send a test email to my email. Using this feature enables me to see what the customer will see in their email program. This also shows me if it will make it to their inbox.

We all know that Gmail and Yahoo are the most popular email (web-based) systems in the world.

That means we need to plan for that. Send your email test to a Gmail, Yahoo, or MSN account to see where it lands. You’ll also want to see what it looks like on a computer and a mobile device. Formatting is important if you want to leave a professional impression.

Segment Automation, Segment Broadcasts, Segment Everything

In today’s world, if you’re emailing via blasting everyone on your list, you’re missing the point.

People want that tailored experience.

That means you need to find out more about your subscriber.

Ask questions in your emails then segment based on those answers (usually clicks from the email).

This is all very easy to do in Drip even if you have no prior programming skill. The segmentation is built-in for broadcast emails by default.

You’ll first want to know the title of the email and then Drip will prompt you with a screen to ask which audience to send the email to.

Features Are Awesome But What About Usability

I’ve seen many reviews about other autoresponder systems and the biggest complaint that I’ve seen is usability and ease of use with the features.

What I have found is that there are a few things that need to be considered when purchasing the rights to using drip email marketing system. The first of these is quite obvious, especially if you’re brand new.

Cost per subscriber

Drip is a bit more than GetResponse or Aweber, but what you get for the money completely outweighs them every day of the week.

What I really like about Drip is how easy it is to apply segments to emails, create workflows, goals, triggers and all the methods that are used to create a solid email campaign.

This is where I believe MailChimp, Aweber, and ConvertKit lose me. Usability is huge when it comes to implementing an email marketing software system into any business starting on a low-budget.

Do Be Very Creative With Words Not Photos

One thing that may hurt your deliverability is the use of too many photos in the emails that are sent out. When I was with GetResponse many years ago, I was put in the spam group on their service (assigned to a bad IP address) so that only about .5% of my emails would be delivered. They never tell you this nor will they coach you before doing this to you.

My suggestion here is less is more. If you must put in a photo do it at the top as a banner or put in a screenshot of a video and link it to the video itself. Then if you desire to use photos, put them in the blog posts that you send out to your subscribers.

Stay Clear Of Spammy Words

If you see that your stats are going down. The first thing that you should try is to eliminate these words from your emails. Deliverability is ultimately the place we all want to be able to see in our services. I’ve learned the hard way. Not having many emails read, you can’t have a thriving business in any industry.

So when I switched over to the Drip email marketing service, I started seeing up to 40% open rates.

When I was with previous email service, I was not seeing any results. I wondered why I wasn’t getting any engagement. So I attended webinars, searched google, YouTube, and Pinterest for answers. So after I arrived at my wit’s end, I made the decision to switch over to Drip because it was the right choice. Emailing More Often Using Drip Email Marketing Features

There are many opinions out there about what to email and how often you should email your list.

I believe that multiple times per day is over-kill.

I believe that emailing once a week is also too little. Your duty is to get to know your email subscribers and vice versa. So if you email once a week, or month you’re not doing any service to either party.

The best mix of how often to email is, in my opinion, an average of once per day. Sure there will be times that multiple times a day is essential. For example, you will have a webinar coming up. You’ll want to email several times to remind those that signed up to join you.

In the course of regular emailing and providing value, you can get away with emailing every other day but no more.

I have been using Leadpages now for about 4 years and have been able to get a ton of usage with this system. Leadpages is an unlimited service which means you won’t be metered on how many times your capture pages are viewed.

The starting package is only $17/month when paid for on a yearly basis. This is the only way to pay (yearly) unless you upgrade to the next tiers.

Use Resend To Unopeners

Have you ever wondered if people just don’t have time to view your emails and then they get lost in the shuffle? There’s a feature that is starting to become a regular feature on some of the better email autoresponder systems.

That feature is resending to those that didn’t open the email on the first send.

I will use this on occasion and usually for the next day but if it’s not time sensitive, I’ll schedule it for 2 or more days later with a different subject in the title.

We know that the subject or title is always the key to getting more reads in our open stats, right?

So use this opportunity to see if you can improve your titles. This also gives you more opens for that particular email.

Use Your Resources (Leadpages & Drip Have many)

There’s a ton of resources with the Leadpages system as well as Drip. This company goes overboard on the FAQ’s as well as blog posts on how to do specific things in your Leadpages or GetDrip account.

Split Testing

With The Drip email marketing system, you have the ability right out of the gate to do split testing. They will allow you to split test the time of delivery and subject lines.

WOW!

These are both the pinnacle of getting inbox opens. So, of course, you’ll want to split test these two items.

If you’re not familiar with split testing, you may have seen this referred to as A/B testing on some systems.

It’s just a way to see what works. Marketing is always a test.

Use Automation

I love automation and I suppose this is why I love using Drip so much. I can set up campaigns, workflows, triggers and move people from campaign to campaign without having to touch anything. Each user can also be a part of more than one campaign and never get charged for having multiple email addresses. It’s the best of both worlds in email marketing automation.

As per the video, you’ll see that doing advertising on Craigslist.org is a matter of abiding by the rules they put forth. However, there are some caveats to using Craigslist, such as:

If you choose to use the paid option, you will get more traffic but if it gets flagged, you’re out $25 or whatever you spent on the ad. So there is a risk of doing business with Craigslist.
When using the free option, you’re more likely to get flagged for anything that is non-compliant.

These are just a couple of items that you have to watch out for when using Craigslist to advertise. You can use an autoresponder to capture and communicate with your leads. However, I found that I like GetResponse much better than the rest of this AR (Auto-Responder) class. I would also give Aweber a close second in this genre of AR.

Training for Craigslist using the GetResponse autoresponder does and will change over time so be sure to search for the latest posts when using Google, Bing, or Yahoo to search.

Other Resources To Advertising Your Business Other Than Craigslist Using GetResponse Autoresponder

Facebook (Social Media Paid and Free)
- Yes, this is a paid version but it’s still a very powerful method of raising your game within the business world. Think about it. You have the option to broadcast to over a billion people (not recommended though)

Solo Ads
- This option is still a very viable option but only if you know how to do it and who to go through. Solo ads will definitely give you more leads. However, if you’re looking for targeted leads, be sure to ask questions before purchasing.
- Also, be doubly sure that your autoresponder is ready and set up for your new leads. These days, there are smart autoresponders that will put your leads through a workflow, and automatically segment your leads as well.
Blogging
- This can be a free method but should be converted very fast into a paid product such as any WordPress blog hosted on Godaddy. This gives you space to advertise to those coming to your blog. It also gives you a home on the internet that allows you to control content the public sees.

Considerations For 2018

Nowadays, Craigslist has cracked down on using any sort of link in your advertising. So the best way to do advertising through Craigslist is to use a photo with a web URL that is easy to remember. DO NOT — USE any sort of URL shorteners. If that is necessary, try using a plugin called Pretty link. you’ll be able to track your link opens and also have a URL that people can remember.

Now, if you’re marketing budget is ready for some leads, you can pay to advertise on Craigslist. Last I checked there is a flat fee of $25. The caveat to this is your ad is still subject to those that flag posts. This can cause your ad to be removed permanently.

This is a risk that as an entrepreneur, you are ready to take.
